Way nicer than my C-61 Closter. Reminds me of either an early Paxette or Finetta.

With 31 so far myself, I can honestly say you're normal. Only have 2 enlargers though.

Before you either attempt to fix it yourself or send it out for a Clean, Lube and Adjust, try holding a heat source like a hair dryer near the ring to gently warm it. Sometimes the grease will soften enough to move the ring back and forth to free it up. Not a perfect fix but often enough to try the camera out with film.

Never thought to compete with Brian as he's a friend and contact. If 126, box cameras and point 'n shoots don't count, I only have around 1200 give or take a dozen. Interventions are fer sissies, LOL.

A safe, warm and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Try Googling "Shutter Capping" or "Shutter Bounce". Usually shows more at higher shutter speeds.

Hi Jeff,
Since its made in China for Cosina under many different names (Vivitar, Dakota, etc.) I'd try a Cosina eyepiece. To get the plastic screw out I'd simply heat a metal piece ie. small screwdriver tip, press it into the plastic as it melts, allow to cool and unscrew it.

KW Pilot Super??

Series adapters are the way to go for sure. Adapter and filter searches under Tiffen, Ednalite, Walz and Kodak should provide tons of examples for next to nothing. I watched an auction lately with dozens of series filters. I think it might still be available.

Hi William,
Generally for corroded battery caps I set the camera upside down and either let a drop of Ronsonol lighter fluid or WD-40 drip around the cap and sit overnight. Usually helps.

That's a real beauty, nice find.

I actually bought a Futura S for $50 off Kijijii locally a while back. Picking up lower end SLRs, cheap RFs and early digital point 'n shoots lately. Whatever grabs my interest. Bought 3 Olympus OM2s lately for under $10 so the deals are out there just need to dig.

I hear this almost every day even from the guys I work with. One has both a Canon and a Nikon SLR sitting in his closet for years. He remembers something is wrong with each, but won't sell them because he wouldn't get what they were worth. Another has a broken Nikon FG (circuit board is gone according to the repair shop) without a lens and wants $20 because "It's worth it". I even had a lady get angry when I told her a box Brownie and Brownie Hawkeye were only worth a few dollars each. It's gotten to the point where I won't even discuss camera purchases till I hear a price first, no more "make me an offer".

I've used both a red bingo chip and red cellophane before. Prefer the bingo chip.

Although I have a couple of most types, I'd have to be honest and say my favourite is usually the one I see someone else using. Always seems in nicer shape or a rarer model or the one I've searched for but never found. I once saw a 16 year old kid using a Nikon S rangefinder of his grandfather's while I was using a Kodak Instamatic, LOL.

I've had bad luck with most Petri SLRs, bodies jam but the lenses seem to work nicely. As a confirmed SLR lunatic (I have 460 so far) approx. 1/4 are these brands particularly Ricoh and Yashica. Very little trouble with any other than the Ricoh KR5 Super II and every one that doesn't work was due to a sheared off pin beneath the shutter cocking lever. A design flaw.

I have plenty of B models in many lines but only a few A models like Canon F1, Olympus OM4, Pentax MX etc. Seem to soldier on very nicely for me so far and as you said, it allows me to use the various lens mount systems without breaking my bank.

-

The only thing I know of with 44mm thread mount would be a Miranda, some of which had both bayonet outer and M44 inner mounts on the body so lens would be M44. Don't think this is the case with yours though.

Possibly the earlier Adaptamatic version??

While they're displayed on the manual for the Kodak Signet 50, they're designed to fit both the Argus Autronic series and Argus 260 series that used 126 film.

While I don't have the Mamiya Prismat NP, I have two Sears 32B, a Tower 37 and two Nikkorex F but you've neglected the Ricoh Singlex version and the Argus (I have three) version. Also if you use Exakta you'll like the Firstflex 35 which is a simple SLR that uses the Exakta mount too. Mine came with a Tokina 45mm f2.8 in Exakta mount.

Luckily for me I have the extra room and sufficient funds to buy basically what I want so I continue to hoard even though I know it's a losing proposition. I gave up counting a while back, but still buy SLR equipment (I have 13 coming again) more than any other sort. Once I finish some more shelving, at least I'll have mine neatly displayed, not in boxes on the floor.
