1.
Jay:
Been following your posts regarding your home brew developers for quite some time now. Do you have any idea how this "superfine" developer compares with Microdol-X? I have been using Microdol-X at 1:2 and 1:3 for some time now and have been happy with the results but I also like to experiment a little also.
Thanks,
2. Thanks for the link Chris. It helps but maybe I should ask my question another way -

Should I expect Delta 100 to be completely clear after fixing? I was under the impression that some films had residual tints and I was wondering if this might be one of them. In which case I'm probably OK but if not then I need to fix even more than the 15 minutes I've already done.

  3. I recently processed a couple of rolls of Delta 100 in HC-110, dil.

    B. After washing I noticed the film has a slight purple tint. I

tried re-fixing a piece but it didn't really change. Is this normal

for Delta 100 or for Delta 100 in HC-110?

Thank you for any advice you can give me.

  4. I had a similiar problem using bulk loaded film in my Rebel 2000. What I found was that when my Rebel pre-wound the film it would lock up and start blinking and not fire the shutter. After removing the film several times in a darkroom I tried resecuring the film to the cassette spool with a very sticky plastic based tape. Previously I used masking tape when I secured the film to the spool. This seemed to fix the problem as I have not encountered this again. I think that in my situation the camera's prewind exerted enough forcce on the film to start to pull the tape away from the spool. The camera then couldn't start winding the film properly in the cassette. It might be worth a try.
  5. Can anyone let me know of a source (preferably in the U.S.) for Tetenal Emofin, a two part film developer? It doesn't show up in B&H, Adorama, or several others' online catalogs which I have checked. Is there a formula available if I have to mix my own? Any other two part developers exhibiting similiar characteristics?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

  6. I would like to try the new Delta 400 at E.I.s ranging from 800 to 1600. Does anyone have any experience pushing this film? Can you recommend a developer and perhaps a time which I could use as a starting point? I currently use Microphen with both HP5+ and D3200. I would prefer to not use Xtol, I think it's a great developer but I understand it will soon become available in only the 5 l. packages and I just don't want to deal with that much quantity. Any other comments on what to expect would be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. I am doing some testing of my own right now but I would appreciate input from others. I want to choose a 400 speed film which I can rate anywhere from 200 to 1200. At 200 to 400 I will use PMK (I like the results I get from both Tri-X and HP5+ in PMK) but for the faster E.I. I will develop using either Xtol or Microphen. Can anyone give me their ideas and/or experiences. Right now I seem to have narrowed my choice to HP5+ or TMY400. Which one of these two pushes better? Thanks for your help.
  8. I've just starting using Rodinal 1+50 with Delta 100 in both 35mm and 120. Is there a minimum amount of concentrate required? For the 120 I mix 9ml. with 450ml. water and this fills my 16oz. tank. But if I want to mix approximately 8oz. of solution for 35mm./36 exposure will 4 to 4 1/2ml. of Rodinal be enough? Thanks for your responses.
