I can't figure out how to post multiple pictures so sorry for this extra post.

I really don't think it matters whether it is a rangefinder or an slr. Steady hands are the issue.
I use both in low light situations usually around 1/4 to 1/2 second exposures with no tripod
and they are fine. The color photos are shot on a 20d at 1600 iso, 1/3 second @ f/3.2. The
black and white is shot on a Leica M6, at 1/4 second, f/2.8 on T max3200 rated at 1250.
Both are ambient light, no flash.

1) It is not a Leica.
2) I would bet a lot of money it is a digital camera. The images
were up on magnum's website way too quick for it to be film.
And they look like hell technically.
3) I understand it is Magnum but there isn't a photo from the
RNC that most professional photographers couldn't take. And
don't take this the wrong way. I just think it is very very difficult to
take different amazing protest photographs. Even Nachtwey's
pictures from a protest in the US last year that were in Time
weren't very special and we all know how amazing he is.
That's my two cents.

The company is MTN, Cost for a cell phone is 100$ to 300 $ US dollars
depending on what phone you want, product depends on what phone you
want, and you buy airtime minutes.....if someone calls you the minutes arent
subtracted. so it is like a phone here in the US pay as you go. It is like 10
cents a minute US to call locally, about 50 cents to call within east africa and a
dollar a minute to call the US......that is all estimates but close.

21 years old. bought it when i was 19 off you photo.net folks for
a damn good price. everyone says a leica is expensive but when
you get an m6 and a 35 f/2 aspherical for $1500 how can you go
wrong. so i will make the arguement that you don't have to be
rich to buy one just work for a little bit. a digital is much more
money..... but film does add up.

Dayton,
Good post. I don't understand why more photographers do not
use point and shoot digital cameras. Quality wise it is good
enough for publication. It is not the camera that makes the
picture but the photographer. In a situation like the Reagan
funeral what do you need a better shutter response for? There
isn't much action. I am going to include a link that most of you
have probably seen before. Alex Majoli, Magnum Photos, won
NPPA Magazine POY with a point and shoot Olympus.

I think as photographers we get too caught up in the equipment
aspect of it. What does it matter what we take it with? One can
make a million arguements why to shoot with a Leica over a
Canon or a Canon over a Nikon or film over digital and vice versa
but in the end it is just a tool. And as a painter doesn't have one
brush, we shouldn't have one camera.

forgot to mention.....using an 8 by 10 deep tank to process the film. 30 rolls of 35 mm at a time

I am looking for a good place to begin testing d 76 1:3 on the new
trix film. If you have any ideas of where to begin please email me
at fbmecd@hotmail.com

I have a question about the focusing on the M6. If I am focusing on
a word it is not crisp. the letter is extended down a few mm if you
know what I am saying. Do you think this is causing focus problems
at all? I am not sure but I don't think it would. Just making
sure. I don't have a real way to check. I am in Uganda now headed
down to Rwanda in a few days. If you can send me an email about this
at aah8102@rit.edu I would really appreciate it. Andrew Henderson

Jan,
The photos are great at 16 by 20, sharp as a tack but of course a little grainy, a look I tend to
like.
