I love these kind of tests. So funny. Happy to say that I've been out shooting all day!

"Why did they do that?"
Probably because they want to sell more flashes.

"To be really serious, you need to hang a mirror on the wall in the center of the frame, and from your viewfinder, you need to be able to see the camera's reflection from the mirror."
Funny :)

I use a Nikon Sb-20. It's fairly light, easy to adjust, has a tilting flash head and it's easy and cheap to find.

I don't know if it's just my sample, but my Stylus Epic is quite noisy while shooting. Nonetheless, I'm getting an extra one soon. Great traveling cameras.

There are many leveling options, here's one from Hama:

Get the Tokina 12-24. It's just as good and will save you money for the trip. Europe is
expensive enough these days.

AF, MF, film, digital... With those parameters, it could be anything! If it has to work with AF-D lenses, I'd say a Nikon EM. Some say the electronics aren't too reliable, but those cameras are small.
If digital, I'd get the Olympus E-420 + 25/2.8.

Is this a crop or a full frame photo? I can't make up much out of a 800 x 600 jpeg...
-
But then again, the S5 basically is a D200.

A journalist friend of mine who's at PMA says it's questionable whether Fujfilm will actually
put this into production.

Knob rewind? How retro can you get?

On second thought: $5000 is about the daily budget of an average African country. Think
about that - and think of the F3/M6/IIIf/D40 you already have.
-
Yes, they are all possibilities.
-
Well well, lucky you!

You mean the run that ended up in safe vaults straightaway?

"I get a kick out of some of the conversations"
Me too. Terry, it's just a camera. If you don't need a backup, find someone who does need it.
-
Wow Stuart, that's a positive approach.

Byron: both the G9 and D40(X) are very good. I like the small size of the G9, but I've also seen great results by the D40 + Sigma 30/1.4, an excellent standard lens.

I've never seen a big difference between the Mamiya and Hasselblad lenses. That argument is more important to me. Spend the money on film instead!
-
An EM is even smaller. Lots of fun, easy to use and pairs well with the 28/50/100 E-lenses. Those lenses are more than OK, by the way - especially that 100/2.8.

Um, scroll down a bit here: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=006oBq

"I need to purchase 2 cameras ASAP since my actual gear needs urgent service from Nikon."
But why didn't you have your cameras serviced one at a time?
-
Maybe you have your F100 in A(perture) mode? Try P and see what happens.
