1. Jin apparently your visit to those pages solved the problem. I can now see all the pic. Nevertheless I still have a similar problem with many others portfolios (even if pressing on Shift)
I never had this problem before on Pnet and in another site. Looks as if my capacity of viewing pic was reduced. quite strange
  2. Hello somebody here?!

the bad with digging the feedback forum out of the view from users is we are loosing a lot of usefull info from other users. zin that very case I would like to know if other users have the same problem, if it is a general bug or specific to some ...?

    Thanks for answer

  3. The small range of frequencies that we can see is called the visible electromagnetic spectrum. Waves of light are measured in wavelengths or nanometers (nm), the length determining its color. Wavelengths of visible light range from 380nm to 760nm. The visible colors from shortest to longest nm are: violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. Ultraviolet radiation is situated below 380nm. Infrared radiation has a longer wavelength than visible red light, that is above 760nm...
  4. Yes, for instance, instead of typing in the command the full URL address
http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=007tNJ
It will give you the same result since you are already in PNet server and save you some space if you use the following relative address
/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=007tNJ

Limit: if I recall well it has some limitation as PNet uses couple of servers; for instance it doesnt work if you want to link to //thumbs.photo.net/ the gallery server for thumbnails. You need then to give the full URL address

  5. I don't think it's a bug Garry. But if the database is still run under Oracle, the maximum length of the character data type if I recall well is 4000 bytes; unless you modify the data type to Large Object which was not the case at PNet.
To save characters, you could try to reduce the address length of URL if they are under PNet zone using a 'relative' URL (omitting /photo.net/ in the URL for instance).
  6. - ability to have follow up - in my workspace - threads in which I participated (putting a thread up the list if new comment posted since last visit, ability to reach directly those new comments when going to the page)

    - ability in the gallery pages to go to page xx directly (without having to press next/before button xx time...)

    - extend the 'highest photo rated by this member' from the top 300 to all photos rated by this members in each member community page.

  7. Ray, if I may 'paraphrase' you, it's becoming evident that this site as a whole is beginning to degenerate. Therefore, I am not sure I'll stay long here despite recent entertaintment.
If the 'business' is kept run in such short amateur way, it'll end up keeping a bunch of real names, but nobody behind them I am afraid.

    just in case

  8. I don't quite understand the exact reason behind your post Marc.

I've just tried and if I type "Marc Gouguenheim Photo" on Google the first site to appear is your own site and the second and 3rd sites to appear is your POW/portfolio at PNet, the 4th is your portfolio at PPoint, the fifth at altPhoto, the sixth one your portfolio at tripod and it continues without interruption for pages....
I would say your risk is not to get ignored/lost among other photographers with similar name but to get your own commercial site lost among your simultaneous presence in every single webphotosites

when I type 'jacques Henry photo' the first line to appear is also PNet Portfolio.
Same for you David and John.

by the way I started a general thread about RealName where members are exposing their different opinions/worries on this question.

  9. Giving adress, phone number, name, credit card number,... just to ensure that your rating and commenting will be consistent, responsible and fair sounds a bit like hammering an ant with a mountain. It's not even credible. George Orwell is not far..:o)
Looks like we loose the flexibility of internet navigation. why not then send a registered letter....
Personally, I have no problem nowadays to post with my name with one e-mail in case some people want to reach me. But also, if I feel so in the future, I won't mind to post different style of pictures using pseudo, in different website or single website.
Reminder: Voltaire's real name Jean-Marie Arouet, Romain Gary wrote couple of books under Emile Ajar's alias and Boris Vian published few thrillers as Vernon Sullivan. I would say it's quite often that an artist doesn't show its works using his real name. I am not trying to compare myself to those people..:o)

If somebody wants to contact people, they can send me an e-mail, they can call each other John, Jacques or Hiroshi (that's their choice of user nickname, and does not forbid they to establish contact anyway).
and If and when they get closer to some other people here they will eventually exchange addresses and phone numbers. Again name is not that important. Most of my friends have nicknames by the way...
Interested to know what do you think?

  10. Once a user becomes a paying member, using Paypal or Credit Card, PNet admin

has then full knowledge of his/her name (at least the one of the payer, in

    case of sponsoring), isn't it?
Then, after if the person doesn't want to

use publicly his/her name and instead choose another name (couldbe also

his/her commercial logo too), it is to be left to his/her decision and

appreciation IMO. I don't see the problem
I even see much more problem in

going too much 'real and public' on internet. Some people does not need any

extra advertisement; not to mention tons of spam and strange internet folks

going around. And PNet is not a private site and offer no guarantee of

    protection
For the non-subscriber, who are unknown from admin and therefore

could be double account/fake or simple passers by, I agree it's another

    issue.
Overall, I am also quite concerned about what PNet Admin would do

with such information (I would say database) in the future,...
