It's a nice portrait. The wall competes for attention, however, and although it adds important information about her invironment, I think a full body shot including the wall would be more successful. As is, by taking up a full one third of the image, the wall pulls my eye away form the main subject.

This is an outstanding image. Great light, color, content, and composition. Comments about it not being "original" are so sad.

Nice capture. I'll bet the great lighting didn't last long.

This photo is marked as not being manipulated. How do you explain the dark skys in the B&W that are not in the color version?

This is a nice photo. It is a good example of how the rule of thirds in composition can be broken with great success. It's a shame you couldn't find a way to get more highlights on the hair and legs to match the upper torso.

I like the colors and use of light. I dont know what I'm looking at, but it is interesting. The view of modern light colored structure in the lower background detracts from the ambiance.

This is a stunning portrait, but it would be so much better if her entire head was visible. Please try this again without the head crop. The lighting and tonal qualities are just beautiful. This is easily the best photo in your portfolio.

Very nice conposition and tonal qualities.

What makes a good photograph? Sharpness? Well, it helps, but sharpness isn't everything. I've seen a great many photos on this site that are very sharp, and very boring. A good photo (or drawing, painting, sculpture, whatever) has that certain something that makes you want to look at it again and again.
This photo has a lot going for it, including the horses eye and mouth. It it were cropped just above the horses knees to be rid of the distracting lower portion which adds nothing to the photo, we have a nice DB square, with the horses features combining with the riders face and hand to form a good rule of thirds composition. Throw in the great color and action, and this image rates pretty high in my book.

This is a very pleasing image. I appreciate Mr. Kollmorgen's explaination as to how it was created. It helps define the boundaries of what is acceptable for upload on pdn.

Thanks. This is my first upload to photo.net, and since everyone loves a baby bird, this shot was chosen. I would have liked to fill the frame a little more, but the E-10 was all I had on hand, and the little bird was pretty nervious. I wouldn't have seen it had it's parents not have been flying around the fence in the process of feeding it. It probably had just left its nest. It couldn't fly. I didn't like bothering it too much, so I got off a couple of quick shots, and then left it alone.

A chance meeting in the back yard.

very nice lights and darks. interesting composition.

I like it. I supposed this is an inverted image. Nice idea.

great lighting & good pose.

nice light. good pose. you might want to crop a little off of the right side.
-
If you'd crop off about 1/3 of a belly on the right side, I think you'd have something.

I like it. The composition works well, with the sidewalk and green grass creating a swirl that captures and retains the viewers eye. The placement of the tree, the streetlight effect, and the parking lot stripes also add a lot to the image. Even the trash can helps - did you place it there? Hey. You done good.

Mary, your photo was worth another look, and after reading certain coments made after my original post, I'm compelled to say a little more. I think some folks are easily caught up in the technical aspects of photography, and overlook the more intangible aspects an image can present. Getting caught up in "too much tilt" and "use a better hanger", the these folks seem to be blind to the spiritual slice of life your photo represents. Yours is a photo that makes one think. It captures a living, breathing moment that begs for the viewer to think about what a wedding means, and how lives of many people will be changed this day. That's no small thing.

Nice idea, Mary. This image is very pleasing to my eye, and is worth more than one look, to me meaning its a pretty good photo. The manner in which the backlighting emphasizes the needlework of the dress is a most dramatic presentation, making this the best photo I've seen of this subject matter. Please ignore the nitpicking you're getting - those folks need to get out more.
