I have looked. All the ones I see are for Ms. can these be used. I have an R5

Greetings. I have not posted here in years. Hope everyone is well.

 

I just acquired a mint R5 and a Vario Elmar 35-70 f3.5. I also have a Summicron 50 f2.0 and a Summicron 35 f2.0 for my Leica M6TTL, both early 2000 versions. Can I use these M mounts with my R5?

 

I have seen M to R adapters for sale in the ‘net.can these work? Both M lenses are early 2000s.

I have acquired a Zeiss Contessa Folder. It seems to work but won't

know for sure until I run some film through it. Meter appears to work

but I'll probably get the VC meter (which I can also use with my

Leica IIIf).

 

Anticipating that a CLA or other service will be required (It has not

been used for years and shows little sign of any use)can anyone help

me locate a repair person who specialises in these cameras? This

appears to be the 53-55 version with a Tessar 45 F2.8. Gandy's site

is gaga about this camera and it does feel very well built.

Looks like the only way to go is to do it yourself. In that regard,I have been thinking of doing my own BW work. I have searched the web on this and it appears that developing tanks remain available from different sources.

 

At my mother's house, in the garage, sits a Leitz enlarger which has not seen the light of day in about 35 years.It is probably a Focomat Ic - I remember my late father making excellent BW prints in the 1950's when I was a toddler. I have no idea what shape it is in and I'm not very optimistic. I'm not enen sure there is a lens on board.

 

The question - assuming the enlarger is salvageable, what would I need to use it for Minox work (I would also like to develop 35 mm BW from my Leica)? It appears that Leitz did make a Minox negative carrier for the Ic and there is some mention of a 15mm extension tube. Since my dad worked only in 35mm, I doubt he had either of these. As always, thanks in advance for any comments.

Very interesting, but it gives rise to a question - what value is there to new cameras in this format given the increasing difficulty of obtaining film or film processing for them? I have read somewhere that Minox US sales are up but MPL remains the sole US processor and Minox no longer makes developing tanks and enlargers.Compare this to 35mm, where film and processing remain readily available. Gives one pause...

Thanks for the reply. My research indicates that Minox is marketing a 3.3 Mpxl digital, the DC 3311. It has macro and close-focus capability. Any comments or information on this camera?

As a solo attorney (no clerk or secretary), I often need to copy

documents out of court files. I generally find the limited number of

copy machines in the Clerk's office to be: (1) in use; (2) out of

paper; or (3) out of order. Moreover, copies now cost 25 cents per

page.

 

I have thought about using a Minox to shoot pages from the court file

and then enlarge them to 8 x 10 in prints. Is this a practical option

for day to day use? While the Minox camera is compact and its ability

to copy docs is well known, several issues give rise to questions as

to practicality, namely:

 

1) film availability;

2) cost of processing and enlarging;

3) availability of processing and enlarging (very limited it appears);

4) turn-around time ( I can't wait to send it to NY).

 

I spoke to someone at Central Camera in Chicago today. They have no

new minoxes in stock ("There is no demand for them"). They do sell

film but only sell film processing mailers which have to be sent to

NY.

 

 

Can anyone comment on these issues and possible solutions. Is a

digital alternative available and/or practical?

I just acquired a Leica CL body. While I await delivery of an

instruction manual, I search for the battery compartment.I've looked

in the logical places and some not so logical, but to no avail. Can

anyone assist me?

 

I am also looking for a 40 mm f2 Summicron for the CL. Right now, I

have tried my 50mm 'cron from my M6 but think I would like the

smaller lens.
