1.
For being able to keep that spare eye on the activity in front of you, using your right eye definately would be an advantage with most cameras. Unfortunately, I was born "left eye dominate." I'm right-handed, but when it comes to looking through a camera, loupe or shooting rifles or shotguns, I have to use my left eye.

2. Be prepared for a lot of red-eyed cowboys and equivalent bulls and horses. If you can get

great bull riding photos in a place where the lighting is so bad you need a flash, I wish you

the best of luck. I've done it about half a dozen times and I am always disappointed with the

results and I consider myself a better than average sports photographer. The SB-800 is the

choice, however.

3. Azlan, the 17-55/2.8 was in short supply for a very long time, but I have to tell you it was

worth the wait. This is without a doubt one of the sharpest lenses I have personally ever

used. I carry two cameras with that lens and the 70-200/2.8 VR lens attached to the other

and don't have to worry about changing lenses and worrying about the sensor getting dirty

which is really nice. If you are a Nikon digital shooter the 17-55/2.8 is a great choice.

4. Do you think Nikon will ever find a firmware solution to improve the digital noise at ISO 1,600? That is my

only gripe with this camera. The ergonomics are fantastic and so far (knock on wood) my two D200's and

my 17-55/2.8 and 70-200/2.8VR lenses have been much more reliable and dependable than my former

equivalent Canon 20D setup. Please Nikon, do something about this!

5. I'm holding on to my Leica gear and unloading all my Canon digital SLR gear because I like film, hate so-called technological "advances," and since I'm retired now can go back to shooting what I want, when I want and digital just frustrates the heck out of me. If you're interested in the Canon SLR digital stuff send me a note.
6. I had this problem with my first 20D, but not my second unit. I had the first one calibrated to my 16-35/2.8L and it really made a huge difference. A friend just purchased a 30D with a 24/2.8 and has the same problem and sent it back and went back to film and manual focus. Like me, he's pretty much had it with so-called technological breakthroughs like autofocus and digital image capture.
7. Michael: All I was saying is that to try to compare a point and shoot to anything with the potential of the M8 just doesn't make sense. On another point, I don't see this being a collector camera, but I've been wrong in the past and probably will be in the future. I just hope the camera lives up to its potential because a lot of us don't like to shoot with SLRs and never will.
8. Where is it written, or how have some detemined, that the M8 cannot be upgraded via sensor replacement and firmware? With the quality of the typical Leica body it would seem like this could be done and would have been part of the plan, although from a financial standpoint it wouldn't make sense, but from a marketing and consumer loyalty standpoint it would.
9. Volker, on my computer screen the photos seem very, very dark. Any photos from Munich are always welcome. I lived there for five years and my wife and I talk about those days often. We really miss living there. With the Pope's visit and Oktoberfest coming up it must really be busy there.
10. A new ABC Television show, Six Degrees, scheduled to debut in late September,

has a character named Stephen who is an "artist/photographer" who appeared to

be shooting a chrome Leica M7 from what I can pick up from the trailers being

shown to promote the show on ABC and their website. Do you think the target

audience will even know what kind of camera this is?
