  1. Ilia, So that imagery--'creating ghost looking images [children] running through this scene...' would require you return to the playground literally? I didn't realize that. I thought you could play in a full featured program like PS but I guess not. As of yet I have no hands on experience and very limited knowledge of PS, thus, my 'vote' to consider a revisit into the magickal playground was an easy (and selfish) leap to make.

Is it the '..drag of the shutter...' that would need to be done from the actual site--no option

is viable to work with the originals that you took? And as for the 'translucency' same query. And one more question for consideration from this jumping off point is there anything at all similar i.e. 'ghostly' images/features like that could be played with for the exploration of it?

  2. Wow that sounds awesome...so goes my contributing

vote that Ilia may further be inspired to play a little longer in this mystical playground. For technical measure it would also be a great learning experience for some of us out here

not as experienced working with shutter speeds and the special effects you've referenced as of yet.

  3. This photo has thorougly captured me! Taken me...entirely to another place. A crisp, cool, dark enchanting moment frozen in time that is anything but still. I'm lost and renewed with my arms wide open I go willingly-amidst this illusion

as if I ever had a choice from the instant-the instant my eyes became fixed on this magickal blend in the glowing!

Blown away..entirely by this photo. For me this is by far, of the hundreds if not thousands I've seen out here on photo.net, not only my favorite photo but sure to remain right up there for many moons and photos yet to be viewed.

Congratulations on capturing a truly remarkable photo. This is beyond splendid! Along with the many other who have commented-attesting to your well deserved accolades what more can I say that hasn't been said, and moreover, that I remain hard pressed to put into words (and speaking as a writer-that being one of my crafts I consider may well convey best what I want to say here...)..and that is, simply put-thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this!

I haven't posted anything as yet to photo.net

but preparing to in the near future. As I embark on my journey to resume my love of photography it is rare qualitative shots like this I can,at best, aspire to capture in my own place & Time.

  4. Enjoyed this photo as well as the other I commented on so much so it was a toss up which of the two in this folder was my favorite. I decided this one is. Primarily because of whats already been said about the cakey make up in some of the other shots including the one I commented on.

I realize it's still a fact that make up is a standard in the industry more times than not so it's the noticeable part thats relevant. More on the lighting in this one-I think it might have added to the photo if the cheaks and chin shiney glare were toned down some. I would have also been interested to see what this photo would look like with some slightly(!) longer nails on her hands. Less technical and personal perspective suggestions (which I may never be quite comfortable giving out as art is a fine line and such an individual experience) I do think you captured what you were looking for i.e. a mystical enchanting look. A final note again I like how you half draped one of her shoulders.

    Nice job.

  5. Really like this shot. I have yet to use PS and I realize often I find in reading the comments out here many either over use it or over suggest it. That said, PS has it's benefits to pull out natural colors/beauty. PS might have worked well to sharpen the natural background

which should dominate this photo rathr than

the rich green foreground color. That is, unless you intended the latter in which case I think this would have been a more awesome photo as I've detailed. Nice shot all the same in that for the many water shots I've viewed out here that really are a washout no matter how vivid the color this one stands out as one of the better ones.

  6. ..well almost. Very cool photo...a touch more partial and soft lighting on some of the (your?) right eye would add to this mystery of The Smoking Man-e.g. more prompt for the viewer readily inclined as it is, to yet moreso, lean in for an even closer look perhaps in hopes of learning more about this mysterious man-from my perspective anyway.

No idea how old you are but dating myself I'll briefly tell you about where this picture took me. Don't know if you remember or otherwise ever heard of George Finelle (sp? on his last name). He was in radio, primarily, for years in the Boston Mass. area. He used to host an overnight

show on tv (pre cable days) when the only channel

to be had in Boston was the one after Carson was over. The 5-all-night-live-all-night show was the only tv he ever did so far that I know. It featured an old movie a night for 'night owls' and in between commercials host-George would come on the air in shadow. He talked low, while smoking often enough (yes that was ok then too) and sat near a flood light hardly near him and just casting enough light on his form. Looming in darkened light he half sat on a bar stool adorned w/a large brimmed cowboy hat that hid much of his face naturally. In a very low toned whispery voice he would recant factoids about the movie & celeb/star in same etc...And yes as a young kid staying up way too late I guess, I would lean in to the tv screen till I couldn't go any further without knocking the tv over were it not one of those big old consoles.

Suffice it to say aside from my flashback here

thankfully I kept in mind I need to save up for a new camera not a new monitor-thus the one I'm looking at remains in tact thankfully. Perhaps

you should scratch my initial comment come to think of it. In this illusion thanx for the memories and in advance for your indulgence for my long comment. Nice shot!

  7. Appeals to my eye and love of and for flash animation. And you swear you got this one with 3 separate unconsecutive shots huh...well..what else can be said except you rule now where is the rest of the food coloring box ?

  8. a basin?..what a Cool shot. Seeing as your looking for any suggestions my next thought was wonder

what several droplets graduating would look like

in this i.e. longer stream to the final plunge is what I'm thinking I suppose. After checking out

more of your photos and having viewed 1000's out here at this point so goes this rare interest of my having more...I wanted to ask how long have you been paying attention to photography (yours specifically)? Do you have a favorite camera? lens? Do you have your own dark room? If mentioned already in the tech. section(s) out here sorry but I haven't taken note as yet. Again nice shot here.

  9. Liked this picture more once I read that you

discovered the image serendipitously. I agree with the other comment about a need for a more blended look with the immulsion amidst the trees.

I also would like to see this picture redone without any immulsion...leaving the portal-door

as the only unusual object in an otherwise all

natural setting you know...would blend with your magical concept that there is definitely something more to this tucked away spot amdist the trees. Btw, I've looked at all your pics..you have some really great shots..nice work.
