  1. Hello Andy,

I will address only part of your question. I went through the same route as you, first

SLR, then asking what to do with my new desire for the RF. I bought am m6 with a

35mm Summicron and haven't looked back. The switch was just a matter of getting

used to the viewfinder, getting used to much more accurate focusing, and having an

incredibly bright area in which to compose. My first results confirmed my quick

switch, as they were fabulous. I guess what I am saying is that you will not regret it,

and if it is a Leica you want and you get something else, it just delays the inevitable.

You will have no problem with this setup. Also the 35mm Summicron is one of the

best lenses you will ever use, ASPH or non-ASPH.

    Good luck,

    JM

  2. Hey Ken,

I am a huge fan of the collapsible 50. If you can find a mint one( not easy), grab it. I

found mine on ebay for a few hundred dollars. One of the classic Leica lenses. In

addition, if you can go a little further, get a rigid, which is also gorgeous. In some

ways I feel that these lenses really represent what your eye sees, and what beautiful

    glass Leica is known for.

    Good luck,

    Jeff

  3. Terrific service from Richard at KB. Very helpful, and if you have any problems with this lens, he will make sure you are happy. I had a change of mind a few months ago concerning a summilux or a noctilux, and he was very willing to be flexible. I assume that if there was a problem with a lens, he would take care of this. Recommended!

    best,

    jm

  4. OK Everyone,

I just recently travelled to Norway twice, Oslo, Spoleto(Italy), Rome, Bologna, Todi,

Urbino, Ancona and back to New York. I took no less than 80 rolls of film. My

camera, was touched by my sweaty, coffee and wine drenched hands for 4 weeks

minimum. I put it on rocks, bridges, sand, near salt water, near fish markets, etc. I

came home, wiped it with my Leica cloth, and it looks new. The Black paint looks

fabulous, and for those who have just "fondled" them in the store, I have one thing to

say. Get a life. It is a wonderful camera, and in addition, I can rewind quite fast, only

slightly slower than my old M6. In addition, the metering is more sensitive.

    all best,

    JM

  5. Hello,

Can you tell me which lens hood will fit a 50 mm Summilux 1.4? This is the chrome

version (with scalloped focusing ring), serial number 2198868. I know that the

original is the XIOOM, which I am having a hard time finding. Are there any other

hoods that will fit? Also, can you advise on filter size/brands???

    best,

    Jeffrey

  6. Hello Jeff,

I have a collapsible 50 Summicron as well as the rigid 50 which followed it. I have

taken some of the most luminous and beautiful photos, especially portraits in natural

daylight. This collapsible has the most outstanding bokeh of all of my lenses, and I

find it's sharpness and contrast on a very high level. In fact, I am not sure I will hold

on to my current 50 cron as I rarely use it. In addition, most people I show my prints

to, always love those taken with the collapsible. I use the current 2.8 lens hood(screw

in type), with no vignetting, even wide open. If you have found a clean one, with no

seperation, fungus or cleaning marks, do not hesitate. I have used this with both my

MP and my M7 with outstanding results. The classic Leica lens.

    All best,

    Jeff
