not sure if i should give this originality score to the model or the photographer, Jim! It's a nice strong composition - I like the diagonal line.

A beautiful photo - I agree with the positive comments above. I like the diagonal composition, terific lighting, toning, etc. Also appreciate the classic-vogue style. A fine studio shot - and the artificiality is part of its glamour.
As has already been noted in this discussion, you're a real asset to the photo.net discussions, Marc, and your intelligent comments and friendly arguments are much valued by many of us.
Congratulations!

I love reading these POW discussions. It's a real blood sport!
But seriously, I find it fascinating to follow the discussion and argument. I learn a lot from the willingness of you people to express ideas freely and to be unafraid of engaging in 'friendly' argument - although I pity anyone who gets chosen.
Congratulations, Chris, on being selected and handling it all so well. In the final analysis it's the photographer's idea that counts, and your ability to express it meaningfully.

A quirky old 1950's camera. The fixed lens gives some (oddly)
interesting corner distortions.
-
A nice composition - the brownie has lovely shapes which you display effectively. We sometimes forget how interesting our cameras are as a subject in themselves!

Please tell us what it is! Extraordinary...

A beautiful abstract image.

This one works even better as a composition than Fire Painting, although it doesn't have the nice greenish stuff...do some more like these, John!

I agree, these colours and patterns are terrific. I like the idea of 'fire painting' or even 'writing'. I'd be interested to see if you can find more beautiful things like this that are actually created by the fire. There's still a subtle poignancy to the image, knowing its context. I'd be tempted to trim the black line off the top...? To me, it's a little distracting in an otherwise beautiful & interesting picture. Cheers, Alistair.

I agree, zach - the green & orange is wild. It makes me dizzy...

Beautiful work. I can see them working well (but making a rather different statement) with the order rearranged, eg. 2,3,1.
-
This is an interesting shot - groovy colours. If it was me, I'd be tempted to crop a little off the left to take away the stair landing... just to keep the geometric shapes clean.
-
I like this very much - lovely colours, texture, interesting composition.
-
Beautiful. Great colours & composition. Nicely abstract.

I would eat those colours! It's beautiful.

I like all your photos here very much - the sort of pictures that make me rethink how I look at things. This one is particularly fascinating. Let us see more!

I like this image. It would be interesting to experiment with cropping it down a little further to make more of the geometric (a bit Paul Klee?) quality.
-
I'm not sure what this is but that's partly why I like it- a lovely image.

Beautiful & absorbing

I'm no expert either but here's what I thought: It's a nice little snail and a nice leaf but too much of the shot is taken up with other stuff. Try to get in a bit closer or crop it down just to what's essential. Keep experimenting.

Lovely colours and composition - I try to do things like this but they don't work out so well!
