1.
CC Chang
and everyone thank you so much
at the bowling alley- this video you included
how does the camera go into focus when the ball is thrown ( i.e the ball seems to go from a blur to focused/sharp )
what makes that happen? what button was pressed to make that happen
does anyone have experience with

PURE Digital Flip UltraHD Camcorder

i have and it seems to do a marvelous job

i think the flip HD do a better job than the DSLR D300S
unless im doing something wrong im going to buy one
am i throwing money out
or is it better than the video on the D300s

  2.
I am certainly very disappointed with the video on this amazing DSLR camera.
i am known for single shot photography not VIDEOS and i did not experiment with the camera at all.
i own the D300 also.
I clicked LV hit the center button and mostly saw blurry imaging unless it was at a certain distance .
a very amateurish feature!
it doesnt auto focus, most videos are blurry. but some pass muster.
i am wondering if there is something im missing here. The inability to auto focus makes this IMHO a wasted feature.
Am i right in assuming that as long as it is held steady still and at a fixed ( not shiftable ) distance it will do the job
if it looks in focus in the finder. BUT shifting my position any closer or farther from the subject louses everything up.
It seems hit and miss, trial and error. Is there a trick to always get clear focusing?
what else do i do that im not doing?

thanks

  3. Our factory representatives have confirmed that it is normal for the 18-200mm DX lens to exhibit some zoom creep when the lens is pointed up or down or at a sharp angle. ("Zoom creep" means the focal length will slowly and continuously change under the weight of the lens elements.) Most of this movement occurs between approximately 30mm and 130mm in the 18-200mm lens. It is also normal for there to be some variation in the resistance of the zoom control ring as it is turned.

It is not possible for Nikon to adjust the friction of the zooming mechanism in the 18-200mm DX lens to eliminate zoom creep, since this would make the lens inoperable at the extremes of the zoom range.

  4. is it normal

that a DX 18-200 Nikkor at 35mm if faced directly down mounted on the D300 will open up

to about 100mm by itself it doesnt stay locked in like it does at 18mm?

if i shoot directly upward at 50mm the nikkor lens will start to move downward ( towards gravity )

    not at 200mm though

    is this normal behaviour

everything else about this baby is sharp and flawless

    thanks

  5. Hey Mr. Daniel Bayer !

First, glad you went checking on me. Im flattered.

i must tell you that i find that

  7. you get the idea of what im saying

what is a pro photographer ?

someone who earns his money making photos????

many do it with a polaroid, in INDIA ASIA S AMERICA they work with old RUSSIAN cameras

I have no clue what a professional photographer is according to your definition.

i stand firmly on what i said above!

    NO harm done

    peace

  8. I Thank you all. I really do. You all sound like earnest people with good hearts.

    But

most of you will have to agree with what i am about to say!

It is not the camera nor the lenses that makes a photograph or a great photographer!

I have absolute proof of that. My photography is proof of that.

All this commercial conspicuous consumption you all seem to be ( and i dont exlude myself from ) is mindboggling. Next year you will all be raving about a NIKON 800

and the year after that the D900. It is utter nonsense in my professional opinion.

There has to be a time when you say its the person pressing the shutter that really counts.

A great photographer must not be afraid to shoot close up front and find interesting subjects.

He or she must have great imagination. A steady hand decent equipment , NOT the best the latest, the

FX the DX the whatever X.

People have won huge awards and produced fabulous famous and unforgettable images with a pentax K1000 and a slow vivitar lens.

We all need to take a breather and realize its not the CAMERA its not the Lens. Its the person clicking the shutter that counts and all that counts.

I am lucky to have reallized this at an earlier age. I do hope you all realize this and wish everyone a great day.

  9. What lenses with the same latitude like a 12-24 or 18-200 ( fantastic lenses ) would work on this FX D700 camera?

i am guessing that the D700 must work with single focal length lenses? or quite expensive glass?

could you give me an example of what lenses would be compatible that compare in prices with the above mentioned glass?

its sounds like id be spending thousands more just to get appropriate non DX glass for the D700 right?

    thanks

  10. Would someone be kind enough to explain to me why the D700 with full frame sensor is better than the D300

using DX 12-24 TOKINA and 18-200 DX Nikkor lenses? Is it the ISO factor and better build?

am i to understand that now i own actual 12-24 and 18-200 lenses not with a 1.5 factor if i buy the D700?

im gaining wide angle but losing 100mm at the long side arent I?

I shoot pro photos but i do not have a pro enough knowledge of this new camera. What is full frame going to do for me that the D300 i own does not? and why should i buy the D700? appreciate this very much

  11. Please someone answer this. Does the FX full frame mean: that my 12-24 TOKINA F4 IF DX lens will now be a

12 mm - 24 lens and not an 18-36 mm lens?

    and

then 18-200 NIKKOR will be an 18-200 mm lens???????

is that why i am spending 3000 dollars for full frame?

    among the other features

  12. i have owned a mini trekker lowepro for atleast 10 years.

the Macbookpro 15 just makes it in the outside pocket but one day in Delhi i

know that zipper might snap open.

It fits under plane seats it is snug and i love it but i think ive outgrown it

considering the firelite drives/CFs/chargers etc that i have to carry in it in

    addition to the cameras/lenses.

During the day after 35 years of nil problems in the slumiest of 4thworld areas

it happened in some foreign land and i was warned by many many people not to

stroll with my holster carrying a camera and one around my neck in that

specific area well...i was hit on. Insurance doubled paid me back but it was the

first time it happened and now im asking these questions.

lets say you are alone ( maybe that was my mistake ) strolling how do you

maximize the protection of your 2 cameras ( wide ang/zoom tele)?

do you put the cameras in an old army bag? how do you carry them?

i am not taking one single camera and switching lenses so i get a whole lot of

    dust on the sensor.

Is there a bag that you use for a carry on back pack that will also take a

Laptop the MBPro 15"? and fit the 9 x 14x22 regulation?

what are you using to fit it all in on the plane with computer in the same

    camera back pack?

and during your day shooting what are you using. I think im not going the

holster route again that hangs around my waist. Better attached like a belt.

    ideas???????

    thanks so much

  13. Hello

Zoom Super Wide Angle AF 12-24mm f/4 AT-X 124AF Pro DX Autofocus Lens for Nikon

    Digital Cameras

can the Tokina 12-24 DX lens be used on a NIKON D300 camera?

    thanks

    glenn losack

  14. last year it was wait for the D200

then it was wait for the D300

    its not the camera

its the shooter as long as the camera is camera worthy and man the D200 certainly was since it was out.

arent any of you aware of that?

do you really think this waiting around for the next D whatever is going to make your photos better.

this is hilarious and experienced shooters like myself have to laugh a you all. I could im sure make great photos with a 6060 or a 2002

that would match your D300's. Im not bragging im making apoint that in the right hands what the H is the difference if you have a D100 200 or 300? cmon wake up realize this... stop this nonsense

  15. I can buy the D40 D40X D80 D200 soon D300 D3

    on a 18-200 nikkor lens

whatever i want i can have

This is America and we are spoiled!

the point is trying to carry as little weight as possible

    minimalize and facilitate great photography

( which is my responsibility not the cameras )

not shooting in a war zone

or directly in a storm or sports action!

i have made award winning photos 40 years using film and digital

    but

if we all tested these NIKON D's @ size photo "16-20" NEFS noise reduction

    same photograph

would you really notice a difference?

in all seriousness would you really notice a big enough difference

in your photos if you knew what you were doing and had a steady hand?

im talking only image quality here!

    only!

  16. when does all this stop

award winning shots can be done on a NIKON 2020 6006 Pentax K1000

    its not the camera

its the one holding the camera

isnt this conspicuous consumption leading us all nowhere.

More is better? new means better?
