BEAUTIFUL! this is truly one of life's simplest things that most ppl just don't notice...what would make it a PERFECT 7 would be if the words on the page were either like a dictionary on the word LOVE...or the text of Romeo and Juliet...8)

Plant control centre: Incoming butterfly at 2 o'clock!
Hehehe...nice motion and colour...perhaps a slightly bigger DOV would be nice to put the butterfly into sharper focus...
-
wow...nice close shot...for some reason, the head reminds me of the mouth of a moose...8)
-
startling colour contrast, has a very "apocalyptical" flair to it...i can almost swear that I see 'someone' pouring out some steaming cloud from that blue opening...
-
Actually, during the same "photo-shoot" i've done it with the figure, w/o the figure w/ a larger depth of view, w/ a shallower depth of view and just about every combination including putting the figure in different postures and positions...8)

Actually, I like the fact that you cut off the edges of the river...creates more off-photo space...even though it's not there, you can totally imagine what it looks like...
-
The colour contrast is quite striking with the reddish hot foreground matched by the cool softness of the background...
Also i'm assuming your train must've been moving pretty fast so your shutter must've been clicking away like mad (oh wait, it's digital, hehehe)

Well, i'm just a beginner at photography with little experience and equipment, but wouldn't it be possible to achieve this lighting scenario if you take a double exposure: the first being metered to the outdoor brightness or one to two stops under, and then the second, with a strong ND-Grad vertically aligned such that the "fault-line" passes right where the safety tape ends? Then u can further expose the indoor without overexposing the outdoor light? (but then there is the problem of timing since the exposures would technically "look" different)
-
Just curious as to why there's so much black space down there...8)

Is it ur scanner or the original print that is somewhat fuzzy?
-
omg, nearly didn't see the child...
-
Very powerful and nice effect...maybe it's just me but i would probably either remove most or all of the ocean and a bit of that dark cloud at the top to put the convergence point back at the centre of the picture and to remove that unnecessary darkness on the bottom...if there was more detail, perhaps it would be different...but otherwise, quite nice as it is i think...unless u plan to give it a major overhaul in photoshop or something

All comments are welcome! Just general critique of it since i'm just
a beginning amateur. The lighting contrast is nicer on the real
print (as well as the face and lighting of the small figure), but my
scanner is just old and of quite bad quality...8) (1992, 300x300dpi,
24bit scanner, poor colour and contrast rendition) Couldn't be fixed
with Photoshop or Photopaint. Thanx everyone

Just a little nice lighting I noticed that reminded me of FFVIII...hehehe 8) Comments are welcome!

*shiver* this scan really turned out ugly...hehehe, but i guess it's better than nothing...*sigh* once again, i need to get a better scanner b/c like the other Downtown Sunset pic, the scanner doesn't pick up the sharpness and contrast of the darker areas...on the original photo, both the colour spectrum (contains all the colours of the rainbow, but this scanned version makes the deep royal blue look like a dull navy blue) and silhouette skyline is much more apparent...
-
a very surprising composition...too bad there's that flowerbed on the right, or else the attention would totally be focused on the bright red in the middle with the rest of the cooler colours contrasting...nice depth of view though considering the "traffic" involved...hehehe
-
nice exposure time, it ALMOST looks like the church is moving like a train...(or that the world is ending)...hehehe
-
very cool-tone colours...and such deep contrast between the water and the surrounding brush...excellent
-
very interesting contrast and lighting
-
Very well hidden plane of focus...
-
i think the bright yellow border detracts attention from the image...but otherwise, nice negative...8)
-
A nice solitary silhouette, the colour gradient is nice combined with the fine detail of the foreground brush makes it very pleasing to the eye
-
very clean and focused...the birds add a certain flair to this otherwise, serene picture....interesting how the lighthouse still "lights up" with the blocked out sun, even during the daytime
-
Nice scene....just curious as to whether that shaded edge is due to the cloud formation (sometimes the clouds mask the sun's light such that a very localized area is lighted) or is it due to light-fall off from the lens? originally, i would assume it's light fall-off but the upper left corner doesn't seem to be affected by this phenomenon...
