1.
Hi John, I was using some new Maha Powerex 2700 mAh NiMH batteries. I previously posted comments on my blog that I'd noticed some folks were having problems with the K-x recognizing different battery types at start-up. As I said, we'd be looking into this. We do listen to feedback from the market, and at this point that's all I'm really able to say.

  2.
Miserere, thanks for your feedback and we must have similar likes, as that " E-rust" abstract was my favorite image from the session. I've already saved it as a TIF file and plan to print it on some 13x19 Epson Velvet Fine Art paper.

  3.
We had a beautiful day in Colorado and it gave me a chance to visit the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden. I spent about two hours walking around with the K-x and a FA77mm taking photos to give you a feeling for the place, as well as seeing how the K-x performed with this lens.
I posted about 30 photos on my blog, and if you're interested, you can check them out K-x and FA77 Photos here.
Cheers,
Thanks. LOL, it wasn't that tough a decision to use the FA 100 macro and the FA 77mm. I was trying to say that the way these lenses render images is quite well known, so one could eliminate any potential negative impact from the lens to these first test images.
I'm certainly not opposed to participating in a Q&A session here. My only concern is being able to reply to the questions in a timely manner.
Mark's housing is made by SPL Waterhousing in San Diego (http://www.splwaterhousings.com). I had a chance to visit their facility, as we provided SPL originally with a K10D body so they could build the first housing which Mark started to work with. SPL builds quality housings ideal for surfing and on water photography. I have not talked to the folks at SPL in several years, but depending how many controls (buttons) you want access to and the number of lens domes you'll need, I believe their housings start at around $1200-1400. Hope this helps.
6. As others like Godfrey have pointed out, both are good lenses. The DA70 "pancake" is

smaller and I find that appealing as I generally prefer to travel light. Here are links to two

sets of photos taken with the DA70, if you want to see a range of sample photos.

  7. Thomas,

Sorry, can't help you with 645D pricing. It has not been set. I can offer that we'll likely be

quite competitive in price vs the 31 mp Hassey, but no where near the $3-5k I've seen a few

folks speculate on as the likely pricing on some photo forums. If one does a little research,

you can find that the Kodak 31 mp sensor is not an inexpensive component.

  8. Hi Thomas,

Thanks and truth be known the vacation was far better than my photos :-)

There have been several published articles in Japan about the Pentax and Tokina

relationship, most recently when we announced the Fisheye 10-17 last year. However, I'm

not sure the articles have been translated.

Pentax and Tokina do have a lens development agreement. The goal of this relationship is

by leveraging the combined resources of both companies, Pentax can increase the

availability of new lenses. Based on the engineering teams expertise, some lens designs

are being done by Pentax and some are done by Tokina. The quality goal for these new

lenses is very high, as I think has been evidenced by reviews of the new Pentax lenses that

have been released in the past year and half.

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers,

    Ned
