Any of these lenses are very very good.
I would add the summicron version one.
Very good définition, probably the best, and also fantastic bokeh.
Its only " limitation " would be less vivid colours than the modern lenses (but i like it also for that same reason)
The Zeiss is fantastic too.

You will find it is rather difficult to use since it enlarges neatly both sides of the négative, and everything in between !
Any tiny defect of the negative will be enhanced, contrast tremendous and exposure time very short.
Should be perfect for microfilm or maybe huge enlargements
Like you i am found of all those leica accessories, yours is better looking than mine and you have the Leitz control, so if one day you decide to let it go, i would also be interested.
Best regards
Joël

Arthur,
as the light comes focalised in the center of the enlarging lens, the diaphragm is more or les useless.
This is an easy way to check that the bulb is in a correct position.

-

Yes, it is a point source light for Focomat (1c and IIC)
I dont have the leitz dimmer but use a variable transformer.
Very interesting device.
When you use it you must focus the light beam exactly in the center of the lens diaphragm

Yes, aspherical is written only on the first ones.
Mine is 3461xxx
I also own the second iteration and its serial is closer to the number you give, 3921xxx
The second one is a few millimeters taller and much less expensive.

-

In fact the aspherical lens (the first one) is thinner that the later ones.
Probably also a little better design and it is the one i use regularly (i bought it new in its time)

-

Did you think buying an R body for your lens ?

I prefer my M6J.
Its only drawback is flare in the viewfinder that can be adressed by Leica with a viewfinder upgrade.
For equal price i would take it without question

-

Tom i am with you, no screen on the back but a well sealed camera against water and dust, choice for higher magnification viewfinders, a dédicated way to connect a remote screen (or video glasses) and a pure black and white version.
Anyway, i think i will to buy this one, my first digital M

-

Arthur,
They were probably asked by Leica to remove the offer.
Anyway i feel confident the M9 will come in september.

This shop in Paris takes pre-orders
Full frame camera, 18mo
Coming in September

Are you sure there is no filter attached to your lens ?
I can't think of any other reason, forgive me...

Bonsoir,
This perfectly working easel puzzles me.
I have no idea when it was figuring in Leitz catalogue.
The base is massive metal cast and can be linked for use with the perspective control device.
Any idea ?
Thank you

Forgive me if you have done it already, but did you try to sharp focus the grain not in the
center but at 2/3 of your neg, at diaphragm 8 ?
I have the same elmar lens and it gives for me very good results
The focotar II wich i own too is indeed rare, i have been told 200 only where built

Sorry for my english, i just re-read my previous post and my ears feel now red and hot !

Ben, i have not the technical background to answer your question, but it is a fact and you
see it
On this forum Lutz Konermann posted test pictures where showing the same between a
summilux 35 and asph
At first glance you feel it, the non asph is less " tiring " for the eyes, more confortable
-
I have both versions, and the differences i could figure are
1st is slightly shorter and more practical to use.
It has some more d馩nition in the center and the DOF seems a little more extended

I have a like new Metrastar inside its leather case (like new too) but no batteries
They needed PX 625 or eventually PX 13

Eliot, mine has a serial number : 1913226
Scalopped mount and rotating front.
i also have the more common 4 鬥ments elmar.
Mine was examined by Leitz and it is definitely a three elements
The box also shows the lens diagram. Three elements.
The two lenses do not compare at all optically.
-
All three elements Elmars have a rotating front
I have a late one and it is a wonderful lens

Last guess Bobby, and you should already know it transmit the information to the light peasure system.
Why don't you read the camera notice ?
