<p>Hi Martin and everyone who responded to the thread,<br>
It seems like I am the only lucky one : ) who have experienced problems with all the three Minoxs'. But I just wanted to say that I studied photography back in high school and I did pretty well. Of course Not to compare with those professional photographers and excellent photographers out there. <br>
I studied film photography and also did developing and printing. So I know how basically exposure works. With all the Minoxs' I had, I had 'acceptable' results when I sat the ASA level down to 1 quarter of what the film actually is graded (Eg. Film: ASA 400 / Minox ASA 100). I tried number of different batteries and adaptors and like I said before, sending the cameras for repair and service. <br>
Martin. You took some excellent photos Minox 35 and I always wish I can take photos like you with Minox 35. I should try your angles with my objects. <br>
And could someone tell me how I can attach a photo file?</p>

<p>I have owned 3 different Minox 35's. One Minox PL and 2 Minox GT. <br>
I used to live in South Korea. I was a young kid back in the 80's and I used to go to camera shops and couldn't stop admiring those little Minox 35s'. I used love the design. The slick body made with black plastic and how the lens opens and the size of them. And I used to have fantasies about German cameras. They used to be new or secondhand but the prices were just too dear for a little kid. As I grew up and the Minoxs' price somewhat came down with the introduction of digital cameras but they still held the value. But I was able to purchase secondhand ones. They dreams come true.<br>
But the photos taken were very disappointing. Practically all photos extremely underexposed. <br>
I have been wondering, Is it my fault? The new batteries (not 5.6V anymore) caused underexposures? Maybe Minox 35s' are prone to early light sensor cell failure?<br>
I have sent the cameras to the US and here in New Zealand for repairs and replacing light cell but nothing helped. <br>
Last year I was lucky enough to purchase a Ex-demo Minox GT from Sweden (If I remember correctly). I used to be in show windows when Minox were selling new but somehow never got sold to a customer. It had been in storage. So the camera was virtually new with no wear and tear.<br>
I have been taking my first test roll for about a year and last week I got the filmed developed. The results were so much like my other Minox 35s'. All heavily underexposure. This time I used silver oxide button sell plus a special adaptor to bring down the voltage to 5.6V.<br>
I used to study photography (film) and now I think I can conclude that Minox 35s' are not well designed cameras even when they were new. The exposure is horrible. The sharpness of the lens isn't that great (soft focus) and just a little more physically reliable than Russian cameras. The Minox spy cameras are great! The photos taken by those tiny spy cameras surprise me every time. But not really the Minox 35s'. Even my Lomo gives better shots most of the time. I must say I occasionally like the soft focus of it but that's it. Minox 35s' were quite successful in the market for quite a long time because of their predecessor's name, the spy cams, the beautiful body design and because they were made in Germany.</p>
<p>I am not writing this to put down Minox 35 lovers. They may really love their Mnox 35s' for their own reasons. <br>
I am just angry with Minox. And with all the time, money and efforts I spent to make the cameras working. <br>
Now I'd like to put down my Minox, keep it in my collections and stop wasting films wondering what's wrong.<br>
I want spend more time with my trusted Rellei 35 and sometimes unreliable Lomo.<br>
Thank you for reading.</p>

<p>Thanks for that Patrick.<br>

<p>Hi<br>
I am looking for about 6 SPX27 cells for my Minox GT and Rollei 35 but not sure which store to get from. There was a shop on Ebay selling at reasonable price but it's not there anymore and some shops on internet sell them at ridiculously high prices. Does anyone know good place to get them?</p>

This is probably exclusively for me, the focusing problem of my past Minox 35 series including my current GT model.
I had been posting several questions here regarding focusing which might had puzzled other members. I was almost
near giving up the focus issue and believe Minox is just a thing of the past which can only take good photos by experienced
photographers. But one day, I finally decided to give my GT a go with the well known service shop, Dag Camera. After several weeks
of wait, the camera was returned to me, overhauled (I'm guessing only major parts cleaned.), FOCUS RESET and the focus ring replaced to
metric system upon my request. (I'm in New Zealand and we use metres instead of feet)
I've recently got back my prints of the first roll and the pics were quite impressing. I'm looking forward to take more photos with this
small camera. But still one question remains...... Would Minox 35 perform better than Olympus Xa or Rollei 35 of similar or same era?
P.S. when I got back my prints I noticed that they were printed from my negatives by scanning them digitally. It was quite sad because
the analogue era is now over.

<p>Hi, I'm no photo expert nor know lots about Minox Spy Cameras but I can notice that the last 2 photos are lack in focus. Assuming that those cameras are renown for their excellent lenses, I guess everyone needs some time to get used to new camera.<br>
P.S. I have a Minox 35GT for years and I still have problem with focusing.</p>
-
<p>These are not 'Warm tone' except for the last one. They are Sepia tone. Nice photos with excellent focus!!</p>
-
<p>Thank you Martin. Where can I locate this lens retraction/extension mechanism? Is it where the front black plastic flap joins the body(the joint I'd say)</p>
-
<p>I think my camera is out of focus as some people from this forum said.</p>
<p>BUT</p>
<p>When I set he focus to infinity or the closest distance(3 ft) the arrow lines up<br>
perfectly to the "∞<strong>" </strong>(infinity sign) and "3".<br>
IF my 35GT's focus is out because the focus ring's "grub" screws are not holding it on the right<br>
place. Then I think the arrow wouldn't line up to 'infinity' or '3'.</p>
<p>Could anybody enlighten me please? : )</p>

<p>Hi, I gave up guessing distances for my Minox and looking for a rangefinder for it. Does anyone know<br>
if cheaper Lomo 'rangefinders' are accurate? Or which makes are one's with reasonable price?</p>
-
<p>People, thanks for the responses. I compared the rangefinder with a 'rangefinder camera' and noticed that the rangefinder was actually not giving the right distances. So I am shopping around for a new one. I found a couple of cheap Lomo 'rangefinders' on the market but I wonder how accurate they are.</p>

<p>Hi,<br>
I've owned 2 Minox's till now and I have always been disappointed by the focus quality of Minox 35. First, I thought I was not so good at estimating distance so I bought a range finder but the quality of print is still the same. The photos are focused but they look like if they were taken with soft-focus filter or diffuse filter. Anyone agree with me? <br>

Oops! Sorry. I just realised that someone already left a link to a website with the photo. Same photo but different article though...
It's in "# Minox DSC --- 8x11 style Digital Spy Camera by Martin Tai | 2008-08-29 |"

I've finally got hold of a photo of the new Minox DSC. But the official website will open tomorrow anyway.

Thank you for the reply Martin. OK. I am going to try one of these Juice cells for a second hand Minidigi when I get one at my own risk. i just hope it's not gonna burn the circuit.

Hi,
I am an "analogue Minox camera fan" but lately I am thinking about purchasing a Leica miniature digital camera
made by Minox because they look so cute.
But as Martin Tai mentioned and others might have experienced, it uses a CR2 battery and the battery life for a
CR2 Battery is pretty short if you use with this camera. : ) And in my personal view, using disposable battery
for digital camera is not the best idea in the world. Minox should face the reality!
Anyway I have found a rechargeable battery and the charging unit on the internet,
http://www.megabatteries.com/item_details2.asp?id=14647&cat_id=487&uid=1738
But although it says that it can be used in cameras, I cannot be sure if I can use it with the Leica Minox and
other digital cameras. the cell is 3.6V !
Anyone ever heard about these rechargeable batteries?

Hi,
I just developed my first roll of film from my PEN EE3. And it seems like this
camera's got a very soft focusing effect or my cam is out of focus?

Thank you everyone!

Hi everyone,
I fell in love with cameras since I was in primary school. I used to go to
camera shops everyday to dream about purchasing certain models. The biggest
dream for me was to own a Minox 35 one day.(I am now 30 years old and finally I
own a Minox!)
I used to take many photos, stupid ones including our house's bathroom's toilet
tub. : )
I've done photography in high school time as a subject which I gained a
scholarship by the time of my graduation.
These days, I am into miniature cams and all my collection, which is very small,
includes Minox 35 GT, Lomo , Rollei 35 and a Pental EE3. But the problem is
that I don't take so many photos these days with the cams I have! They usually
just sit inside of my wardrobe and wait for me to take them outdoor on weekends.
But I am still very keen on looking for these cameras on internet auction sites.
I feel like I just love cameras because of how they are knit in their
technologies rather than a passion for photography.
I am little confused here.
Would anyone have a similar experience?
Regards

Hi,
I know some people have visited the Minox factory in Germany. Can you tell me
briefly what it is like there? Do they still hand-assemble the Minox Spy cams?,
35mm Series, or they are into the digital stuff?
Or...You saw bunch of robots assembling cameras?
I'm just curious. : )

Chris

Hi. With everyone's help I've found a range finder here in New Zealand through an auction site. The range finder's called "Medis".
I hope it works OK.
By the way, English is not my first language and I couldn't really figure out what it ment by Ken Jeanette, STRING/ALUMINIUM.
Regards to everyone.

I attach one work of mine. Taken with my old sweet Canon AE-1 which I lost at an airport. I blurred the model's eyes to protect her privacy. I cannot like social media too much when it comes to privacy.</p>
