So far so good!
The look is good.
The overall feeling is good.
There is no annoying music playing! (I hate that! If I want music, I'll pick my own.)
You need a few more examples in your gallery.
Your prices are too low for what you appear to be capable of.
The gallery photos open as a .jpg the first time you open it and it can be "saved as"... but the second time, it opens as a .php thingy that can't be saved. ?weird?
I like the site. It looks professional.
Good job.

OH! You did NOT give the guy any emails or photos... Facebook would be a "totally your copyright" thing! He has no right to use it! The newspaper knows that for sure!
If the newspaper downloaded it, quit being nice and kick some butt!
If he downloaded it and he is part of a small band that is just getting started in life... just remind them that they can not just use your photos for their benefit just like you can not just use their music for your benefit! If his band is well known, quit being nice and kick some butt!
Ya' know what I mean? :)

NO - That's the answer! You must purchase the hyperdrive or digital foci type of thing because they ARE small computers.

If I understand this correctly, YOU SENT THEM the picture. I don't know the "legality" of them cropping the picture but I would guess that since you sent them the picture, it is implied that they can use it.
My guess is the "legality" of the use and cropping depends on what is written in the email. I am guessing that what you wrote in the email they interpreted to mean that they could use the photo and crop it.
I would think that they should have given you the "by line".

Send the 40 in for an estimate. Then decide. (Unless you are rich and just want to justify the purchase of a new camera. If so, Send the 40 in for repair AND get the 7.)

For portraits, not much of a difference. For high speed photos like birds in motion or for large prints or high ISO, BIG difference.

Use spot metering!

First, photography is an art. Your camera is just a tool. Getting different tools won't help.

Second, photography is a discipline. You must practice. (Sorry about this analogy but I feel I must use it.) In America we go to school to learn. We speak English. We practice writing English. We know that we should capitalize first letters in sentences. The problem is that we must put forth the effort to use the SHIFT key to capitalize.

Now, if you need money and want to get better at photography, practice! Put forth the effort...

Keep the Rebel XT and the 14-135 and sell everything else. Then practice! Take photos of all kinds of things. Make the effort "to use the shift key". In other words, be conscious of what you are doing at the time you take the photo and what the results were. Do NOT say "That photo sucks!". Ask, "How could I make it better?" and try again.

Finally, other people will let you know when the photo is "cool" to them. Ask them what they like about it. Ask yourself the same thing.

In the end, YOU have to like your own photos, but then again... Remember, you're biased.

I agree with Puppy Face. Both about the AI Servo and puppy poop... :)

7D will handle all the lenses you already have. The ONLY EF-S lens (1) you will need will be a wide angle since all your EF lenses will be Xmm*1.6. The 17mm won't be wide any more (17mm*1.6=27.2mm). A 10mm (10*1.6=16mm) EF-S will be needed for get back to the 17mm area.

Contact Canon!
All my calls to Canon were very useful.

Your local store just has a 14 day immediate swap policy. After the 14 days, the "normal" warranty would fix it. You would have to mail it in and a couple of weeks later you would get it back.

I found a .5 Diopter Viewfinder lens at B & H Photo. BH& Part# CADP.5EIX, Manufacture# 2873A002. I also found a +2 Diopter Viewfinder lens at a shop I never heard of. You should call Canon support. They have always been helpful for me.

Either rename on import or...
Most people have a favorite camera... So, pick the camera you are going to use the most and take a bunch of "fun" photos with it until the file number is out ahead of the other camera. (The file numbers should only cross once and I am assuming that you are not putting 5000 photos in one directory/folder.)

Either pay for the tickets for one of these photographers or get 20 or 30 disposable film camera's (B&H Photo still has them) and 1 Canon T1i kit as a wedding present for your selves (you WILL have more things to photograph after the wedding!). Don't forget the extra batteries and memory cards.

YES - Simple answer

-

Keep the money and wait until you have a "no-problem getting the 'L' lens budget". If you can't just spend the money on the lens just for the fun of it or as an expense on a business's profits, then don't spend the money. Use what you have!

-

Call Canon support and they will help you.

-

YES - IS should be off while on a tripod and the newer lenses will turn it off for you. The reason is the older versions would "cause" movement because the sensors would over react to the very slight movements that occur on a tripod.

-

Oddly enough I think canon support is stumped why people don't call and send things in more often since they seem to jump threw hoops to try and help.
I dropped a lens and it would not focus so I sent it in and it would have been more expensive to fix than replace but when they sent it back it was almost fully functional. (Had to do manual focus but it worked manually...)

Full frame and handy as a backup camera! I still have mine. Don't worry about the EF-S lens problem. If you had a A2, you probably don't have very many EF-S lenses anyway.

-

If I remember this correctly, there is a weird combination of changing lens and putting an IS lens on the camera that makes the camera go into some kind of battery drain situation. Try taking the battery out and detach and re-attach lens. Then put the batteries back in. Turn it on and test shoot it then turn it off and see if the battery level stays charged longer. I don't remember if the firmware had to be updated or not so check your firmware version as well.

-

Call Canon. They will talk you through it.

-

Send it in. I've sent in things and they checked them out and it was too expensive to fix but when the thing gets back, it works 10 times better. It's worth the try.

legally using music for webpage
in Business of Photography
Posted

Don't do it! Not for the reason of "royalty free music" or copyright. Just because people (possible customers) came to your site to see photos not to listen to music. Besides that, I don't like it. I've read that a lot of other people don't like it.

I've never read any one say...
"I would have used them as my photographers but they did not have music on their site so I skipped them and went to the next photographer that had really good music on their site." :)
