  1. I need to replace the rear flange on my 20-35 f2.8 AF lens. Nikon

does not recommend that i do it. It seems like a simple procedure to

remove 5 screws and carefully replace flange while not damaging the

chip. Has anybody done this and can offer advise? thx,

    jim

  2. Has anyone used this lens? I am thinking of buying one, have seen

one in local shop, but the zoom crept up and down when lens was

tilted beyond 30 degrees. I have an 80-200f4.0 push pull that is

bigger and it doesent creep. I'm wondering if this was just a

defective lens or do all versions of this lens have loose zoom

    action?

    thx,jim

  3. I was wondering if anyone out there has had cpu chips installed on

their manual focus nikkor lens and how well they now work. Are you

able to utilize matrix and spot metering? Are you satisfied

w/performance, any problems and who else besides Rolland Elliot can

do this work? I've checked w/2 shops in NYC and they don't do it.

    thx, jim

  4. I am thinking of going to Grand Canyon sometime this winter(Nov-Feb)

and am wondering what the trails are like that time of year.

I have hiked the Kaibab Trail and part of trail at Hermits Rest in

May.(No ice , very dry, no problem)

Does anyone know if these and other trails are open and what

conditions I can expect that time of year? Will I need poles, I'm

sure I'll need crampons. Any advice from people who have been there

in winter is appreciated. Also will the haze be a problem?

    thx, Jim

  5. I am planning a trip to Yosemite this Nov 15-30th.

I would appreciate advice from those who have been there during any

November. Are the NPS campgrounds worthwhile,I've heard Upper Pines

is VERY cold, and that Curry Campground is very noisy, am I better

off in Yosemite Lodge , staying in a motel around El Portal or Wawona?

    Thx,

    jim
