    <p>On other types of equipment I have had success with removing stuff like that by removing the biggest lumps with nails or a credit card and then a lot of polishing with alcohol or white gas. It can look quite nice underneath. But printed matter on the rubber, will of course also disappear.</p>

    <p>There definitely is a battery in the sender. Its also obvious, as there is an LED on it. It should light green when you push the grey button halfways and red when fully.. <br />Sorry, I can't be bothered to take mine apart, you'll have to open yours to find out what battery it uses ;-)<br /> The button on the receiver(square device) is the on/off and the right LED should come on. The left LED goes green when the button on the sender is half pressed and red when fully pressed.<br /> The unit works flawlessly and the batteries last for ever.<br /> I'm afraid a unit using AA batteries would be rather clumsy.</p>

    <p>When trying out converters make sure they are compatible mechanically as well. With some combinations you can have the lens extending into the converter, when zooming or focusing! ! !</p>

    Question about 5D Mark III with 24-70 F/2.8 and Bag

    <p>I went to storing my camera horizontally in he bag, after a bustrip through Malaysia, with the camera and lens stored vertically.<br>

    I don't remember dropping the bag but when arriving, I found the filterglas broken and the filter stuck to the lens. The lens was stuck to the housing.<br>

    I got the filter off with a plyer and after trying cautiously to unscrew the lens by hand a lot of times, I got desperate and used a lot of force and got the lens off. It was somehow turned further in than normal.</p>

    <p>The lens and camera are still working today.</p>

    <p>It worked ok untill I pulled the camera up and down the bag, then the white rubberbands rolled off. I have now installed the Lensband slightly ovverlapping the stationary part and it adds nice friction.</p>

    3rd party LP-E6 chargers

    <p>There are many uncertainties connected with 3. party chargers, so I chose original.<br /> The charger must have 4 pin connection, or it won't charge original cannon batteries. Even if it has 4 pins, it might not charge original batteries. Canon batteries have built in electronics, that is used by the charger.</p>

    <p><br /> Canon batteries might deteriorate faster if not charged with an original charger.</p>

    <p><br /> You might be able to pick up a used as thats what people have left, when their camera gets stolen. I have a charger for the 5D because of that.</p>

    Either my charger is wrecked or battery flat how to know?

    <p>I got some cheap batteries for my 5D and the worked perfectly.<br>

    I always charge my batteries about once month and after 1/2 year I was going on a 2 month trip to South East Asia and put one of the cheap batteries in the camera to test some settings and it ran out within 10 minutes. I tested all of the others (6 batteries) and only the original Canon batteries had maintaned their capacity.<br>

    Luckily my son had the same camera, so I met up with him at the airport and borrowed 2 original batteries from him.<br>

    I now only buy original batteries.<br>

    PS: I also bought a chinese adjustable charger to be able to emergency charge batteries in my car. It worked perfectly but just stopped working after a year</p>

    Canon 24-105 + 70-200 + 17-40... Which filters solution?

    <p>You could go for a 77mm to 67mm ring, then you only have to buy the 77mm filters. But you'll then have to unscrew/screw you filter every time you change lens.<br>

    On the 17-40 you need special narrow filters or you'll get vignetting at the 17 end.<br>

    Consider if you really want a polariser for the 17-40 as it won't work over the whole picture, so the sky will change from darker to lighter.<br>

    Polarisers only work at a certain degree with respect to the sun and the 17-40 covers a bigger range at 17mm.<br>

    That said, I kind of like my Himalaya pictures with a changing sky.<br>

    Cokin is especially good if you use ND grad filters, as you can pull them up and down and tilt them but they are a pain to use in the field, the frame sticks out and is cheap plastic, the filters are plastic and scratch easily in the pocket.<br>

    PS: protection or UV filters should be on every lens all the time, I once had a zipper from my bag scratch a 70-200mm just when I opened the bag, the puller fell on an unprotected lens.<br>

    Years ago a 10-300mm crashed into the ground, sitting on my EOS5 (while in China) and I only had to use some force to remove the filter and straighten a slight bend in the filter threads on the lens and it could accept a filter again and worked flawlessly.</p>

    When the original 27PX in mercury was discontinued, Minox made a cap with a sleeve, which is probably the one you have. In that, you can also use 4xLR43s.<br>

    To use a silver 27PX or mercury, you need the original cap. You can maybe buy a Minox35 on ebay for around 10$ and ask them to just send the cap.<br>

    PS: I still have original mercury 27PXs</p>
