1. Hi Keith

Just a couple of points regarding safety not only of your self but your equipment

1/ Don't get too close, cameras and welding, not a good mix, use a medium range zoom and a tripod, consider a ND filter?

2/ Wear protective eyewear, even looking through the viewfinder, you can suffer from the results of welders 'arc'

    Hope it all goes well.

    Regards

    Barry

  2. I am fortunate to have both the F4 and the F5, both are good, however focussing on the F4 compared to the F5 is like a snail.

The F5 has very, very fast focussing and is built like a tank, the build quality of the F100, although no doubt strong, bears no comparision to the absoloute superb build quality of the F5.

The F5 balances very well, I find it a joy to use.

Good luck in whichever you choose

    Regards

  3. Hi John

I must compliment you an excellent purchase, I have one myself, it wont disappoint you.

Regarding lenses, this does depend on your budget, I use the sigma 28-200, that I leave on my camera most of the time, this has proved to work well for me, I do colour as well as B&W scanning to photoshop.

This has to be a personal choice, I would recommend that you visit your local camera shop and see if you can try various lenses to get the feel of them.

Whatever your choice good luck and happy shooting.

  4. My wish is to remain healthy enough, to enjoy the use of the nikon equipment I have, whatever the fault's.

The perfect camera to capture any image without fault whatever the situation has yet to be manufactured.

    Enjoy what you have.

    Life is way too short.

My best wishes to all for 2005 [that includes canon users]

  5. Regarding the 'AP' this is the "Amateur Photographer" probably the worlds oldest photographic magazine, 120 years old this year.

    Lardy can confirm.

I have owned and loved Leica's, however I now use nikon exclusivly, and I am not disapointed.

I do not believe leica can beat nikon on build quality [F series] and unless you compare prints blown to large sizes, with a loupe, you probably won't see the difference, if any exists.

As for the ball's, hold tight and lie like a good un!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers.

  6. Greetings.

I have started to scan minox negatives via a JENOPTEK JS21 film

scanner [GBP 199.00] into the computer using either Adobe

photodeluxe, or MGI Photosuite III, I have been pleased with the

results, both from 100 & 25 ISO speed films.

I have printed very acceptable A4 size prints and I am still

    experimenting !

I used to use a Minox enlarger many years ago in my darkroom, but I

must admit a do prefer to use the computer.

Perhaps we should more discussion based on the merits of minox film

    scanning.

    It works for me.

  7. For minoxers in the UK, 'lifeventure' produce a case for small mobile

telephones, this will fit on a belt, or rucksack strap, has a fixed

loop, plus velcro straps, good value for GBP 7.00 and is available

from outdoors shops, I purchased mine from 'Rohan'.

As the Minox C, fits this case so should most other minox models.

    Bye now
