I love this composition. You have used a unique method of communication between the two dancers. Your skill at manipulating the image is first rate!

LTNS! This is stunning. (and the rust folder is exquisite :) ).
Until the wallabies return,

Follow your instincts.... there is a lot of glare in this shot. If I recall correctly, you're using digital camera so you can take lots of photos and get near instant visual feedback ---though you can't get an ambulance to drive by on demand ;)--- Nighttime photography can be very rewarding (or so I've heard)..... keep shooting!!! Try different exposure times and f-stops.... experiment experiment experiment.....

This photo blows me away! I'm taken back in time... taken to another place--- another time. This photo is a winner. Have you an outlet to sell your work? Having read your biography, I also am a Music/Art person.... nice to meet you and see your incredible photography.... thank you!

Peter, He is very grand, thank you! And that finishing school has paid off in terms of his posture ;)
btw- I'm running back to your portfolio to give you kudos on a picture which has left me, as well as others, breathless... (fine work Peter)

Bill, do you think more DOF would help? This was taken at f/2.8 --- and I confess, many shots taken without thoroughly scrutinizing the focus... arms were getting tired.... didn't realize photography was such a physical sport ;)

I liked the silvery blu-ish tint of the first berries photo but,
following the advice of more experienced photographers here on
PhotoNet, I took a longer exposure - lightening the berries and
allowing for more detailed highlights.... whaddya think? (I'm liking
this one a little better than the first)

My Fiance's cat. Seeing what level of detail this digital camera can
achieve. The original image is 40"x20" according to photoshop... it'd
be nice to actually see these images that big.

I shot a fashionable object in an unfashionable environment (i.e. -
my basement) with unflattering light... Originally I was trying to
shoot the shoe so that it looked like it was a crime scene photo.
Maybe I should use a polaroid camera?

Brandon- Yep, you're right... there are some people - way way out there. Was it the film "American Beauty" that advised viewers to "Look closer!"?
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to Look Closer. :)

Thanks, Heather. I'm only about 10 minutes away from Asbury Park, so it's very convenient! And it does seem to be a rich source of photographic opportunity. :)

I think this is fairly well executed on a technical level. In terms of composition, there are interesting lines --- starting at horn, then up the arm of the steering wheel, then back to the left along the dash board and around again. I love the overall cold metallic tone of the image. This vehicle has obviously seen much use.... abuse? But I'm not sure if I'm receiving the "emotional" message as you may have intended it.

I resized this photo and made minor adjustments in processing. I hope
this is an improvement!
As always, comments and suggestions are welcome... anybody feeling
anything?

Roger, you should check out Carl Root's work if you like rust ;) He's taken excellent photographs. And I think I've pushed this shot as far as it can go. Since I took this shot, I've discovered the camera's manual has useful information on how to use things such as MANUAL focus and a whole slew of other useful tricks... So, next time I can get a sharper image and hopefully the finish will be brighter... maybe using a different film might help too, eh?

Yes, it IS missing something : PEOPLE
Since race riots Asbury has slowly, steadily, fallen into a state of decay... desolation. This shot was taken midday during an Easter Pageant being held just inside the doors to the right of the (empty) registration table on the right. Yes, people actually brought their kids here!

This is a very unique zebra image... sculptural and graphic. Nicely composed, good choice of angle! Photoshopping also well done. Very few zebras would pose so gracefully here in New Jersey!

Thoughts, comments, suggestions invited.

Any thoughts?

Here he is with deeper contrast. I also adjusted the color levels a bit to make the colors richer. I also added a touch of unsharp mask.....
-
I removed the vignette effect, deepened the contrast, and did a little unsharp mask.
-
Yep, I've seen that look before ;)
Maybe adjusting the color level in PS will help bring that dark eye out a little? And darkening the bar code by the paw... is it "dodge" or "burn"? Good portrait shot!
-
Artfully done! The red on the shack on the far right helps lead the eye along the strong horizontal line and into the mist. Excellent DOF. I like the coloring AND the texture!
-
Great print. This composition shows an excellent eye for finding beauty in the everyday objects around us. Good work! I like the detail in the texture of the surface the incense holder is resting on. Wish I knew how to get nice sloppy edges like this in Photoshop!
