I have developed Delta 100 with Perceptol with very pleasing results. Under very high contrast conditions this film/developer combination has given me the acutance I prefer (high), and the expected fine grain from the Delta. A call to Photographers Formulary may prove helpful.
how do you develop kodak film with ilford?

Tim;
Don't give up on the HP5 just yet. Some incremental changes in the developing may be all you need. I have found Ilfosol s to be a little aggressive with HP5, FP4, and Pan F. It probably works best with the Deltas. Try overexposing 1 stop, mix your Ilfosol s with water you know the PH of, and extend your developing time by 15 to 30 seconds. I have had good success by slowing agitation the last two minutes and also extending the developing time by up to a minute in 15 sec. increments. I feel the some finer grain can be acheived this way and pull out some delicate highlights. Always control your temps and take notes when making changes. Good luck.
