1. I scan negs all the time on my old-ish Epson V750, and Epson 4990, with excellent results. Emulsion side down, flatten curve with a 4x5 sheet of Anti-Newton glass, from my old Bessler enlarger neg holder. Not sure where you can buy the glass, Google is your friend.
 2. I once printed on Japanese rice paper with InkAid inkjet coating. Nice, but was tricky to load in the printer because of ripples and waves on the paper after coating dries. Good for a graphic type image, not good for fine details.
 3.
Hi Jennifer, I coat handmade papers, foil, and very thin veneers of wood with a coating product from a company called InkAid (www.inkaid1.com). It preps most surfaces and then you carefully feed the dried coated paper/fabric etc. into your printer (mine is an Epson 9890). They offer helpful how-to videos, which is key as you can really jam up your printer if not careful. Some very thin materials like rice paper, vellum, tracing paper, onion skin paper etc. tend to dry full of rumples, and the printer doesn't like it.
