Who is/was Carlos Santana?
-
I took an original M-Bag on several long trips through Europe in the
mid '70s. At that time lightweight canvas instead of hard leather
was a Godsend. It was the start of a wonderful trend in bag design,
but has long since been superceeded. I prefer the Domke designs,
because the zippered tops on Billinghams are excessively restrictive
on getting the contents out in a hurry.

Your restraint is to be commended. As you gain experience, you will
start noticing more "compositions" and less "photo-spam." Keep it up!
-
Sounds about right if you are having them printed by someone else.
If you are doing it yourself, probably two pictures from the entire
lot is more like it, if you're really good.

Many of the seminal photographs of the early 20th century, including
most of the masterpieces of Paul Strand, are available only as
photogravures. Wonder if he will reject them?
-
Can anyone verify that he was convicted and spent time in prison for
violent crimes (against his wife?), other than internment and escape
from the Nazi POW camps?

What's a "DD"?
-
I use my 20 year old DOMKE F-2, with 4 compartment insert. It
carries a 4x5 Technika, casket set of lenses (105-220mm) and filters,
Pentax digital spot meter, 3 Grafmatics, BTZS focusing cloth, loupe,
lens cleaning stuff, cell phone, notebook, and a small Leica or
Pentax for backup. That still leaves the 4 outside pockets for
airline tickets, books, maps, 2 extra 25 sheet boxes of film, and a
cheese sandwich. The TILTALL tripod travels in its own case as
checked baggage. PS: what's a "DD"?
-
Seen TWO, you've seen 'em all.
-
My Technika Xenotar is one of the sharpest lenses I've ever used.
I'd keep it.

Rent an M6 before you plunk down a bunch of money. For most
purposes, a SLR is better than a RF camera. Consider a Nikon F3,
since you already have Nikkor lenses..
-
What's supposed to be special about it?
-
Unless you're planning to go to 8x10 and make contact prints, I don't
think that you're going to do any better than the mamiya 7.
-
You're not comparing Bokeh.
-
Nice Bum Ivan. What are you doing Saturday night?
-
In the book, "A.A. at 100," the letters "LP" are clearly visible on
the print of Lone Pine with Horsey. All the prints I've seen in the
past had them retouched out.

If you don't know the answer to this question without asking some
else's opinion, you shouldn't spend the money on a Leica. (Troll?)

There;s nothing wrong with monorails; just remember that they must
always be used with a tripod. And the generally, but not always
weigh more than field cameras, and take longer to set up and break
down.

IMO the best lens in that range for a Speed/Crown Graphic is the 10"
(250mm) Tele-Optar. It barely takes any more bellows extension than
a normal lens, and will easily cover 5x7.
-
Holga with a +1 taped to it?
-
I'd bet they're not still available, but Leica did once supply
eyepieces with correction for astigmatism. That was in the days when
they were more concerned with making accessories to adapt their
cameras for any photographic situation, and less concerned with
special models to celebrate bridge/sewer plant openings.

Thank you for bringing these to our attention. The pictures are
visually interesting in themselves, and the captions, while
unnecessary, are quite illuminating. True first class
photojournalism. It is the kind of photography that the National
Geographic should be doing, but doesn't!
