Hi John,
Thank you for the quick response.
I have the 8x10 Paper drum. Can you please tell me, when you insert a film in a Patterson reel and then insert this reel in the Unicolor 8x10 drum, if you use 500ml solution, will the liquid cover all the film area, after the drum is placed on the motor base? For both 35 and 120 reels ?

After many months of preparation and study of Photo.net forums, I
have finally developed my first 4x5 B&W films and I am very pleased
with the first results. I thank all the friends that contributed to
this success with their responses and advice.
Now, I am trying to buy reels for 35 & 120 format film development in
my 8x10 Drum, but there have been non around available for a long
time.
My questions are:
1. What are the differences between the 35/120 Unidrum reels and the
respective reels that are used in a Patterson (for example) tank ?
2. Can a Patterson reel be modified to work in the 8x10 Unicolor drum
placed on its motor base?

I intend to use Rodinal and Agefix to develop 4x5 B&W Agfapan 100 for
the first time in an 8x10 Unidrum on the motor base.
1. Can I use 15gr citric acid in 1 Litre of water as a stop bath ?
For how long ? Should the drum keep rotating all this time ?
2. When Agefix will follow the stop bath, can I still use the drum on
the motor base ? For how long ?
3. How many washing cycles are suggested in the drum ?
I have checked Agfa Technical Data for film processing but the above
details are not included.

Please allow me two questions:
1. I realised from other postings that when using a rotary drum to
wash the film (8x10 Unidrum in my case for Agfapan 100) you must use
approx 400ml of fresh water changing several times. Is there any
indication as to the duration of each cycle and the number of times
that the water should be changed ?
2. I intend to use 15g citric acid in a liter of water as a stop bath
for Agfapan 100. Are there suggestions for the duration of this step
in an 8x10 Unidrum ?
Thanks

Can any of the Patterson tanks be used with Uniroller?

Alec, you are absolutely right, I have never processed any film before but I am trying to learn the most important aspects on film processing until I receive the Unidrum which I purchased through e-bay. Thanks to all friends that have helped with their messages.

I have read a considerable amount of available information with
regards to using Unidrum for 4x5 B&W film development. This is not
clear in my mind though: I assume that, after development, one uses
the Unidrum for the stop bath and fixing as well. If this is so, how
can one be certain, that, before he poures into the drum the next
step chemical, there are no traces in it, of the previously used
chemical?

Is there any information for developing 4x5 B&W negatives in Unidrum
II on a Uniroller with regards to quantities of chemicals and
developing times?

I am looking to find accessories that will enable me to develop 35mm
and 120 negative film using an 8x10 Unidrum for paper printing and a
Uniroller.
Any advise?
