    Children in Rovinj

          2

Hello there. This is a picture I took in Rovinj, Croatia this summer.

I like the different layers of interaction between the children. I

know that the feet are cropped in the foreground. I was very close and

already using a 17mm lens. So this was the widest possible for me in

this particular situation. Would be glad to hear your opinion on this

    shot.

    A shop in Trinidad

This is one of the sujets that are classic for Cuba but probably not

present to many tourists - the counter of a "peso shop". Critiques

    are very welcome. Regards, Sharif

I took this image during my 17 day travels across Cuba. I especially

like it for the colors and the way it captured a typical real life

street scene. I'd love to hear/read what you think of that image.

    Kind regards, Sharif

  1. I was strolling around in paris in November last year when I came

across this great looking couple. It's a pity that the other

bystanders are so close but - well, that's street photography. What

do you think? Please let me know what you like or dislike about the

    photo. Regards, Sharif

  2. Please let me know what you think of this picture. It appears a

little tilted to the right, because I concentrated on the portal of

the church which I framed upright. The other parts of Sacre Ceurs are

tilted due to the perspective. I like this shot for the contrast of

the deep blue sky and the bright white of the building itself. (no

    polarizer used).

    Regards,

    Sharif

  3. I took this candid shot in the Metro in Paris. The couple was so

absorbed by themself that they did not seem to recognize all the

surrounding - and in this way represented what love is all about. I

tried to capture that feeling by choosing a long shutter speed to

blur the departing train. Unfortunately the lady on the right stepped

into my frame but since she is blurred too, I believe the image still

works. Please let me know your opinion. Regards, Sharif

    A street in Lisbon

    Hi Ahiyan, hi Jim,

thanks for your kind komments. I did not have to correct for the perspective since I was able to hold the camera vertically without any tilt. If the street would have been totally even then half of the picture would have been the street. Since the street was aslope most of the frame was filled with the houses.

Thanks for your comments. Marcel I agree - at least I should have cropped to leave the doves out of the frame when post processing.

Michelle, thank you for your high rating. I am glad that you enjoy the picture!!

    A street in Lisbon

The photo was taken in April or May 2003 in Lisbon. I believe the

street photographed lies in the district called "Alfama" but I am not

sure. Please feel free to drop me a comment. I am always ready to

learn more. I hope you enjoy the picture.

    Regards,

    Sharif

    Hi Cnaan,

thank you for your nice comment and your sharing of experiences. I actually can't remember the photo on which I recommended changing the film medium. I believe that I made that comment on a Fuji Superia picture. It may be personal taste but I hate the skin tones that Superia produces -and I know what I am talking about since I used the Superia for quite some time because it costs only 60 % of Kodak Film in Austria - however the reproduction of skin tones is much better by Kodak film in my opinion.

    Cheers,

    Sharif

Very nice backs! Well exposed. I especially like the skin tones what the light makes the hair look. If the feet were in the frame it would have been a truly excellent shot - in my honest opinion. But its very good and full of atmosphere as it is. Congratulations.
