Thanks Robert ! My R 35/1.4 summilux also has that 'art' creation feature. I will not buy 50/1.2 but was interested about it's performance
-
i understand that this lens is a collectible nowand people probably do not use it. However would appreciate
comments on performance of this lens by any member fortunate enough to have used it. I have read Putt's reviews in
which he feels Nocti F 1.0 is superior. However i met an old photographer recently who said that this was the best 50
mm lens that he has ever used !

While realising Noct 1.2 is now out of range for many, I have used it and it simply blows all lenses away not at 1.2 but from 2 onwards

I am sure that there are many more film Leica users out there than digital. My question is that these day the labs
scan the negatives and print them via digital machines. Last time in London I got a roll of film printed via the
supposedly best 'snappy.....' but the results were horrible in terms of clarity and colour compared the EOS 5 Canon
on the same filming run. The leica used was an MP with 50 summicron. 4 years back even the tesco kodak printing
was superb. I still feel that in a digital print some of the finer nuances of Leica lenses like colour spectrum, detail in
shadows is lost. Unless one uses slides which for my weak eye sight is too much work (i.e setting up of a projector
etc) , i feel really lost as to where can i get decent prints from my Leicas. I know people would say go to M8 but then
again that is digital is it not ? I would love advise on how to get the films printed with normal results !

Thanks, I have tried the Canon USA and Europe website and downloaded some relevant software but I get the same 'no' response

In my new computer with windows vista I cannot upload images from my 5D. The
canon zoom browser (which I got with G9 and whichupdated previous z'browser)
says that the camera window is incompatible. I need help rather desperately as
there are no Canon centers here

thanks for your responses

I wonder which Leica M bodies (Film) are still being used or 'treasured' by
forum members. For me. I have the M6 TTL, M4 , M5, M3, M2 and M4P. Surprising
the M camera I use regularly is the M5. It gives me a more steady 'hold'

Over the last 3 years his collection has been auctioned via igavel. I was
astonished to see the good items he once held. They included Leica MP original,
Leica MP2, Luxxux etc. Since I do not know much about him can any one in the
forum fill me in about this guy.

Just saw that a mint KE7 was sold on an internet auction for 16K + dollars.
I wonder what is the allure of this camera. It is basically a black chrome M4
-
Clive, nice shots which camera and medium (dig or film) did you use.
It would be nice if you could recall the lens and aperture ? I think that the first shot is at max aperture 1.4 ?
-
I have had this lens for over 8 years and have been quite happy. I wonder
whether the 28-300L has better image quality apart from the IS advantage. I
would like to hear about members opinions about the newer lens.

Some of the forum members may recall an incident memorable or otherwise which
happened with their Leica. In 1996 while doing street photography I suddenly
took a picture of a London Bobby with my M6. I cannot find that photo now but
he was shocked and it showed. He did not haul me up but warned me gently. I
guess times were different then and it would be dangerous to do such a thing
now.

I bought the Canon S80 and later the G& but I found that at ASA 400 the
pictures even at 6x4 format were grainy . They were useless to enlarge at all.
Since there are weight considerations for air travel these days. I would like
to know about any point and shoot which is OK for ASA 400 shooting. Is Canon G9
the 'one' ? Thanks

I wonder whether the subtle differences and fingerprints of Leica M lens of
various periods are as appararent using M8 on the computer screnn / prints
as they were on slides and negatives. For example the center sharpness of the
first version 35 summicron versud the latest asph version / 90 asp versus non
asph summicron/ If so I would love to buy an M8.

R 19/2.8 latest

I have heard about Christies decision. If it is implemented it would be sad day
for Leica collectors. It is easier to buy cameras after inspecting them and
auctions are generally cheaper than dealers.
-
I have got the 35-350 mm lens for 6 years. The image quality is OK but not
great as 70-200/2.8. I use it for convenience sake even though it is heavy.
I would like to know if I should change it for 28-300 lens. the 28mm is useful
and I wonder if the image quality is better ?
-
Thanks for your kind responses. I have the newer version of 19mm but I cannot afford to modify the 5D. I will take your advise and use the
medium tele's. Thanks !

I would really appreciate to learn about which particular adaptor to buy. I
have seen them drop in value on E **y (most offerings from HKG/China). I have
heard that all do not work well. The lens which I want to use is Leica 19 mm
and 100 and 180mm's. Thanks ! Is there any place to buy them in UK ?
-
I have the current version of Leica R19 mm lens. It is probably the best wide
angle lens I have ever used. I would like to know where I can find the right
adaptor for using it on my 5D. Any experience of Canon folk using Leica R lens
would be very welcome to read. Thanks !

Lovely pictures. Thanks !

I would like to know about the noise at ISO 400 for this camera. I could not
use either G5 or Canon S80 for any serious picture taking at iso 400

This question have been asked before but I would like know about forum members
opinions who have used this lens. I do a lot of indoor photography , so am
particulary interested at the image quality at '1.2'. Thanks

Hi Robert, I totaly agree with you I let go for a 100 bucks more the Nikkor Noct 50/1.2 lens which came in a box with F3 champagne body 8 years ago. I still hanker for that lens as it had special look
not wide open but in the middle aperture range. It is hard to explain scientifically to people that some lens have a special "finger print". I have even enjoyed some old 35/3.5 screw leica lens which had a curvature in the sharpness zone i.e shoes would be sharp and so would be items at infinity. Have a great time with your lux. I hope you never have to sell it !
