    Alhambra

          4

in the Alhambra castle in Granada.

The Mores occupied the soth of Spain during more than 1000 years. The Alhambra was their greatest castle.

This fountain is the very centre of the Alhambra.

Around 1200 BC water was the most precious thing in Andalusia.

This is the treasure of an empire.

  1. I could Photoshop some contrast.

In a way I hate touching negatives. I spent years in the darkroom using professional equipment (Durst - Leitz etc ...) and I came out with the feeling that a negative should be reproduced as it is.

    Including the errors.

  2. This picture should have been taken with a Leica M6 & a Noctilux lens. That's what I say now, 12 years later.

It was taken with a Hasselblad 501cm and Ilford FP.

Well, I'll have to do with the negative, isn't it ?

There must a an exact moment when culture takes a new paradigma. NY is usually the first place to take photos about the future.

Every photographer sooner or later gets to a Leica or a Hasselblad if he's good enough.

For me this is the perfect landscape. It is beyond the "esthetics" I've seen too much.

This picture immediately attracts. It is a question-mark.

There is a lot of unresolved tension. The eye is taken into a labirynt.

    10/10.

    Well, it's like 5 years ago now. I think I used f5.6.

It's natural light. We were in a pub in Leuven (Belgium) talking. It was around 7 pm. There was 'late' sunlight from the window on the left.

About his expression: I think that's the way good friends are with eachother.

  3. My problem with these old Hasselblad negatives is the fact that I don't have the right scanner. I scan them with an Agfa e50 as 'diapositives' so I have to take 35x35 mm out of them.

A 6x6 negative scanner is too expensive for me right now and if I had 2000$ to spend I'd rather buy a Summilux 50.

    Any suggestions ?
