  1. Bert,

    you said,

"I honestly feel that you have spurred many a pretentious comments about the living conditions of homeless people, without much substance or facts to back them up."

over 20 years outreach, including also living on the streets myself, but I suppose you are right I have no experience, in comparison to an armchair cynic.

"You don't know Charles. You don't even know his name. Yet, you take the time to "assume" his condition, his mental state, his behavior."

I spent 2-3 watching over him tried on many occasions to get him help, I couldn't be cause he wouldn't speak/couldn't speak, therefore could not be given help due to beingt too ill to ask. What part did you not understand about mental illness, have you ever witnessed anyone with acute mental illness, I have I see it on a daily basis and can recognise the symptoms/behaviour.

    you go on to say-

"You speculate on his past, you put all sorts of adjectives on the likes of him, all in order to tap into our emotions. And for what? So that I can feel "sorry" and cry for all the homeless old folks in the street? Since when am I allowed such judgement?"

I speculate (in regards to possibly ex public school) because A) he was non communicative & B) I felt that by spending so much time with him I seen things, the way he held himself  (not all times though) the expensive hand made shoes he wore, the shirt buttoned to the top, the tweed trousers, the umbrella his intelligent eye's, gait whilst walking, the gentleness and innocence that seemed to cloak him.  As for allowing yourself judgement, is it not an old indian proverb, that if you want to understand your neighbour you must first walk through life in their shoes' or something to those effects....

    And then-

"If I have been granted with the power of Emotions and Feelings, I also have been given the gift of Reason, one that tells me that not all things, people and animals deserve my emotions and feelings."

You are right which is why I avoid ignorant/vexatious people who can see no further than their own noses unless they smell a coin.

    Then-

"Seriously, how do you know Charles to be a good person? Or a weak one who "will come out of it eventually a stronger person"?"

But he did come out of it, and got the help he needed, and as for a judge of character I trust any of the homeless people I have met over a lame gutter sniper that trolls for fun and without an iota of experience

As for reference to Charles raping scores of young girls or eating baby's, I think here you have been watching far too many horror films or playing violent games.

Wake up Bert, the real monsters aren’t the homeless No! They are the ones who kill others who bully because they are bigger, cheat because they think they are smarter ones who pick on the weak, the old & infirm, people like you Bert!

You can say whatever you want about me I couldn't give a rats, but you know nothing about any of the people I work with so STFU.

you snipe at me and others yet where is your work, your bio say's it all

which of course is just words -

Where are these amazing pictures you speak of , the only one I can see is of what looks like a homeless kid.......

Don't bother replying I have already waisted more time than you will ever be worth.

  2. Beautiful portrayal of primates communicating with one another,

For people communicating is geared much more on vocalising sounds and a simple word can mean so many things when spoken. A chimps when it howls passes a message but from what researchers say carrying little in the lines of language and so much different to our words and as in the case of our subtle gestures is quite a way from the hoots, barking, & floor slamming...But then again primates especially chimps have a tendency to show much more similarity to us when they are in there most tender states, one could almost say human.

I feel we still have so much positive learning from our neighbours before sadly, we lose them completely.

    Thanks Serz.

  3.  I think that freedom of information/speech is a good thing especially when you are aware that illegal murders are being carried out indiscriminately against innocent civilians on an hourly basis and wars instigated by unscrupulous dictatorships for the outcomes of commercial benefits.

Did you know that 5 million Vietnamese perished at the hands of their invaders, of this number approx 1 million were estimated combatants while the other 4 million where civilians mostly woman children and not forgetting the elderly.

this does not include all the murders committed in Laos from the 2 million tonnes of bombs the US dropped on there,

In Cambodia from 1969-1974: the US dropped more than 2.70 million tons of bombs the exact death toll is still unknown.

The total number of deaths is expected to be higher than the whole population of Israel.

The US Death toll was in the region of 60,000 which means that for every American soldier killed there were 166 indochines (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia) who lost there lives too.

    What can I say,

except thank you both very much for your thoughtful and well detailed explanations on 'Face' I have taken in both what you have said and will certainly do my best to learn from it.

I do have a portfolio here at P.N with just over 200 photos but for some reason for the past 4-5 months no one can access it.?

    Many thanks

No hair dryer this was a spinning hair flip @ f:8, ISO 200, & 250th (I know it states 200th of a second here but can assure you it's wrong, it was shot at 250th of a second.)

This kind of shot is used mainly for dynamic fashion and as you mentioned not your thing, I suppose it's a different strokes for different blokes sort of thing eh.

again thank you for your valued insight.

ps had a look through your portfolio, I love the Netherlands :¬)

Just wanted to ask your opinion on what I should do to improve this shot,

any ideas, reason I'm asking is that whenever I put up portraits & other

work and ask for a rating then am given usually a 4 & if I ask for a

comment I am lucky to get 1 these day's.

I take it that this must mean my work is getting worse and not as I

hoped 'improving' so I am asking what I could do to make my work above

    just average......

    Kind regards

    THE LOST UMBRELLA

Is this a subliminal message to some could be tourists warning them of the lousy weather we have here.

The huge letters of 'Keep Clear!' tied in with the double yellow lines which scream 'No Parking!'

the only consolation is the lovely tartan brolly which could mean 'well if you come to Scotland we'll look after you'

Funny abstract that I am sure gives each viewer a chance to make their oen story.

  5. We are living in a time that future generations will look back on and shake their heads incredulously to the extent of our cruelty to our fellow man.

The biggest threat to mankind is not religion, or race, but our own ignorance. Whether we are prepared to evolve and walk free from the caves that are imprisoning our potential is down to us but unless we do do something to arrest this madness we are all equally responsible for the crimes of or governments.

We have two commodities being fought for,

On one hand there is oil, while on the other there is liberty.

The question is which is worth more?

    We're late already,

I like this one this Carlos, that dog is staring so intently and his posture seemingly connected somehow with that car.

Is it waiting for the owner to take him for a drive?

    Regards
