Sorry, but look at the distance of the photographer to the subject, I took this photo at 70 mm, with a small compact so this fill flash would not have been any use at all. secondly it was a snapshot instanly shot the moment I stept in to a kind of courtyeard and saw this man, while stepping closer to improve the shot for only one step the man turned and walked away... At the original the shadow at the roof is less pronounced...

I did a b/w print once, some years ago when I still had my own little darkroom. I skipped the roof and cropped around the door and the two windows, utilising the whole negative on the right hand site to get a little wall there... better photo, not the B/w but for the composition. I can not scan my colornegs so I have to do with the print from the shop losing the space where I need it! so I decided tyo go for this one..
  2. Just looking through my scores of the photo's I updated recently I found your name a few times as a rator. Thanks for taking your time to have a look at them. I highly appriciate the ratings and the comments (especcially) The reason I noticed your name (and am writing this little comment myself) is that I got curious to see what kind of photo's you uploaded yourself: you gave rates that did not compare at all with the other ratings i got... This is not to complain about it, I'am just curious on what "reasoning" your ratings were based. What is it that makes you not like them? critical comments help me much more then people saying nice, nice, nice..

    TIA

a pity the whites are to strong in the marnle head... otherwise a great shot! I like marble heads myself because you canb take all your time to study the faces, after the museum visit you tend to look much more focussed at other peoples heads and faces.. I can feel the ladies intensity studing the face! great. if the contrast was handled better I would have gone for a 8 in aesthetics!
  3. The flare is lightning up the photo a bid. It is not a very great shot by itselve though... sorry..

I put up a flare related question myself lately to this request forum. My conclusion: it is like putting up a family photo, most intersting to the one shooting the picture. the others just do not see the "miracle". If you want to have a look my photo is in my travel folder named "seeing the light".... you'll probably see what i mean...

  4. During a gray day (whilst the missing clouds) my family and I

visited a local (history) theme park. In this park people and the

kids are dressed up like the periode they represent. Nice little

park called Archeon in the Netherlands. Walking away from the

middeavel part of the town I took this snapshot, with my little

Leica pocket camera. On the blownup print you can even see the thin

fishline they used to play with the sailing clock. At a screen

(after a flatbed scan) much of the BW brilliance of the print is

lost but I still like the snapshotscomposition (apart from the dull

sky...) what do you think of it?
