  1. I like the way the couple is framed by the tines of the fork (blades of the tool). I didn't see this at 1st in the color version, but the BW made it stand out. Nice one! (specially given the circumstances)

The bottom is what drew my attention and spellbound me; I wanted to know what the puny humans could possibly be be up to, that was more important than the dark sky above.

Actually I like to thimk of the "arc of dead space" as a form of curved line which leads the viewer's eye directly to the main subject, hence a technically well- crafted image. Chacun a son gout.
  2. Hi Pradeep

I like the clarity of the picture-within-a-picture in the eye - good concept. You might want to blur or clone out the stuff on the right of the mouth which is also in the plane of focus and is a bit distracting.

  3. Hi Natalie

This is an excellent beginning. If anything, you have a little too much in focus here, which tends to confuse the eye. As previously stated, shoot a load of the same subject. Vary things like composition, exposure, focus. In this case I would have tried opening up the aperture to give less depth of field, throwing the background more out of focus. I just wish I had a butterfly shot half as good as this, though. Keep it up.

Thanks for nitpicking, most welcome. I noticed the same faults myself.Beak is blurry, he was turned a little toward me, focus on the eye @f2.8, not enough DoF for huge beak. Colors are a result of switching color spaces from camera to web, accurate but saturated - the print is beautiful, though

I sat down in front of a window on a grey day, let the kitten climb up & over my jeans (pain!) and took a ton of snaps with a digital. This and maybe 1 or 2 others turned out OK.

    Hi Stacey

Took a brief meander thru your folders, and there are some rather good shots in there. The main thing I could say is something that took me a while to get into my head - EDIT. Before showing any photo to anyone, anywhere, look at it over a period of weeks, and if it still excites you, if you can still see some value in it , then show it. Throw the rest away (or file them). As for the shot of the jetty here, I would be asking myself - what is it a picture OF, what's the point of interest, what is it about this picture that expresses ME as a photographer, what makes this image stand out from the crowd? If the answer is "well nothing much, really" - then file it. Only show those photos which are something special. If I get one or two keepers from a roll of 36, then I consider myself lucky. Hope this helps some.
