  1. William,

For the shops in Bruxelles I recommend Campion( Place St Boniface,

    tel: 32 2 512 13 31) and Alpha, nice Leica shop ( 5 Ave des Celtes

    tel: 32 2 733 74 85 ).

    For the labs :

    For color - American Color ( 31 Rue de la COncorde, tel : 32 2 512 19

    33).

    For B&W - Le Labo ( 62 Rue de L'arbre Benit, tel: 32 2 513 35 30)

If you need anything else you can always email me.

    Good luck.

  2. More or less the same story as Stephane above. Had a full kit of EOS

cameras and primes/zooms. Tried a friend's Leica back in August 2001

and really liked it. Easy to handle/ carry/ etc. However it took me

until end of October before I found a nice 2nd hand model. Bought it

the same day with a 50 mm. One month later I sold the complete EOS

kit and got myself a 35 mm & 90 mm. Also got a small bag et voilà!

No regrets, only pleasure eventhough it's just a camera in the end.

  3. Stephane,

Could your dealer be Alpha? I equally bought my 2nd hand M6 from

them. So far no problems with my camera, thankfully ,when I see the

price they quoted for you for the CLA. Maybe you would like to try

the Maison de leica in Paris. I know it's a bit further but I've

only heard good things about them.(www.lamaisondeleica.com).

    Good luck.

  4. I've been offered to buy a very nice Speed Graphic 6x9 cm ( 2x3 inch) for quite a good price ( about USD 150). Is it possible to mount roll film backs on this camera ( 6x7 and 6x9 )?

I have no experience with LF so far, but before buying a bigger format this camera seem to be a nice way to give it a try.

    Thanks for any comments.

  5. Jeff,

Were the results really that soft( with Epson 1640 ) as not to be

able to get a decent print? Did you try different methods of putting

the negs on the scanner? I read elsewhere that the supplied 'caches'

were not of sufficient quality and someone suggested to put the neg

directly on the glass to increase sharpness.

I know I'm insisting on the 1640, but I found someone who could sell

me one for a decent price. And then I can't even find UMAX scanners

    where I live ( Belgium).

    Thanks.

  6. For the scanner, I can warmly recommend the Nikon LS IV. Easy to use,

plenty of controls, good resolution, etc. I often print 30*40 cm on a

Epson 1290 and I'm more than happy with the results.

It takes some time to learn how to master the scanner but once you

get the hang of it, it's a very powerful machine. I find the software

very logic ( and I have no crashes )and more complete than the Canon

    Software.

    Good luck.

In Bruxelles you have a very nice Leica shop called ' Photo Alpha'(

Avenue des Celtes, Metro: Merode ). Quite a lot of old Leica

material, sometimes interesting 2 nd hand and

    very friendly service.

Another shop is Campion ( Rue/Place St Boniface) There are two shops

here, one for new material and one for second hand. A lot of stuff to

    be found, all brands.

    Voila.
