  1. From what I understand, there are different programs run from time to time to erase ratings from people who only give low or high ratings as well as bots. From what Brian has said in the past, bot attacks happen far less often than people think. People get all offended & question the low ratings, but never the higher ones... hmmm. The only ratings that are anonymous are the ratings given utilizing the Rate Recent queue. They are also the only ratings that account for the default view in the TRP. All other ratings are attributed to someone. The mandatory comments were tried & it failed miserably. It resulted in flame wars & useless comments like "it sucks" or "WOW". The anonymous ratings came about more recently due to the TRP being taken over by mate raters & such. While far from perfect, believe me, things are much better this way. Here's a thought... did you ever think the person that gave you the low rating simply didn't like your picture & they don't need a reason why? Would an "it sucks" comment help you any?
  2. Gouchos yes! They are dressy enough with the right top. For dressier (not sports) sandals that you can walk in, I also reccomend Danskos. They aren't "strappy" and offer enough coverage to be demure. The soles are great for standing all day in.

I live in Chacos from April to October! Mine are Z2's & pink :-) I find the toe loop offers me a lot more security when I am doing light hiking or scrambling about obstacles & such. There is no better sandal. I used to wear Teva spyder (the ones with the million straps that they don't make anymore) but the soles didn't cradle my feet properly so my feet would slide around when they got sweaty. I would get sores from the straps rubbing on the top of my feet & calluses (not the good kind) on the bottom if I dared attempt anything more than city walking in them... and they only came in black. Then I discovered Chacos. Life was good again. Angels from on high sang & my feets thanked me.

  3. Anyone ever see the Badger-Snake <a href="http://www.badgerbadgerbadger.com">(www.badgerbadgerbadger.com)</a> flash cartoon? He should do the PN version...

  4. On your index page, the HP sponsorship box looks a wee bit sloppy (see capture

below). The last line extends a wee bit past the dimensions of that CSS box

thingie (see how technical I am?). I am using Firefox & my text settings are

the normal default. I would assume that a lot of people are seeing the same

thing since its the default setting & all that. Me thinks expanding the box a

few pixels or perhaps dynamically downsizing the text a little would fix it.

Anyways... its no biggie, just thought I would point it out.<div>00GnE7-30347984.jpg.d22d1bdb8fbbb9184a279688055f07ee.jpg</div>

I find the vast majority of the nudes here to be dull & me thinks that many of the photographers are really just living out a HorneyGuy fantasy & calling it art. I also see a lot of self portraits that probably have more to do with satisfying an exhibitionist streak rather than an attempt at a good self portrait. However, there are a few <a href="http://www.photo.net/photo/2524756">solid efforts</a> available here.</p>

<p>As far as why there are so many more female nudes than males... thats simple in my opinion. 1)There are a lot more men participating here at PN than women and most will show more interest in the female form. 2)Women generally tend to be more self concious about nudity (thier own or others) than men... lest they be labled sluts or skanks or similar, so they stay away from nudes in general. 3)Sexual stimulation is a driving force in the popularity of nudes and women tend to not focus so much energy into visual stimulation.

  6. <a href="http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp">W3Schools</a> is a great resource for learning all you need to know about creating HTML docs. Read through the HTML Tutorials which include HTML, XHTML & CSS. CSS will make your life a lot easier. Its good to know the basics even if you will be using a WSYWIG editor like Dreamweaver or Frontpage. Another good site that helps give you design ideas utilizing CSS is <a href="http://www.meyerweb.com/eric/css/edge/">CSS Edge</a>.<p>My personal opinion is to stay away from Flash. A good alternative is <a href="http://gallery.menalto.com/">Gallery</a>. Here's an <a href="http://www.fredaskew.com/">example of a website run by Gallery</a> (and a good photographer too).
  7. Recruiters flat out practice deceit. They will omit lots of info as well as try & dazzle with exagerations & flat out lies about what to expect. If someone is going for career training or college money, they will most likely end up disappointed. Most of the "career" training they offer does not translate well to the civillian world & most of the carrot stick college grant funds are unobtainable by the average recruit. On top of that, anything you get in writing guaranteeing location or MOS is null & void in times of war (and guess what we're in right now?? & guess what the recruiters will fail to mention??) There is only 1 good reason to enlist. Thats if you have a need to serve your country. That is the only good reason. Any other reason will most likely lead to regret & disappointment.
  8. I agree with Santiago. Indymedia is open to all. Respond with your photo & their oppressive, bullying tactics. Expose them for the hypocrites they are. Next time, if your ever in a situation like that again, don't engage. There are far more fruitful ways of dealing with folk like that. You may think your standing up to them, but all you are really doing is stooping to their level.
  9. When you enlist there is NO guarantee that you'll get what you want. They will accomodate your request if they have no pressing need elsewhere & even then, they can pull you to do grunt work if that is what they need. Read the fine print. Recruiters lie their arses off.
