Hi Piotr,
Yes, It is a software distortion and it is impossible to avoid it (to my knowledge).
I use Hugin to stitch all the frames. It is free and it works ok for me. The URL is:
I hope this help.

Thank you all for your critiques.
Piotr, stitching does not directly mean lines distortion. But if you need a very wide angle because of the limited space and because of this you stitch a lot of frames you obtain a picture that is like a corrected fish-eye shot.
But I did not use a fish-eye; I used a 50mm lens.

Julie, I am happy you liked it.
You are right, it is a pretty massive stitch, I used 28 50 mm shots to take this picture, in the next pictures I will add custom fields reporting more detailed information about the stitching.
The problem/effect about distortion is caused by the really huge field of view (more or less 110 degree). If you print it really huge and look at it not really far distortions will be reduced a lot, but looking at it in this small space create this strange stretch effect.

Javier, I am happy you liked it and thank you for taking your time to critique my work.
Why you say the quality it is not good? I am really interested in increasing the quality.

I Lisa, thank you for commenting.
I like very much my 20D, you we will be happy with it, but I suggest you the 350D that will save you money to spend in lens and you will not have significant image quality difference.
The black background cannot be more black than this (0,0,0).

For this BW conversion I decided to try a very dark overall felling.

This is one of my preferred in your portfolio, The dark/black grain and tones are the original and powerful ingredients of this pictures.
Thank you for sharing!

Thank you Andrea, this building is really a strange beast, it is pretty huge and it is a soviet building in the middle of a park surrounded by ultra-capitalistic skyscrapers.
What intrigued me is exactly the monochromatic yellowish tone.
I have been in Warsaw for 5 days and everything was under a deep cloud placed a little lower the top of the higher building, again a strange mood for me.
Unfortunately I could only take pictures for 2 hours in the evening without tripod :-(.

Pantheon I - BW

I completely agree with you, this is more than 100 degrees horizontally and on my 20D it will be required a rectilinear lens with less than 10 mm of focal length.
Using an equirectangular projection you will loose the straight lines and I personally prefer this type of projection. Moreover 'piazza del Pantheon' is a very narrow place compared to the size of the Pantheon and because of that perspective effects are more visible.
