david robinson 0 Posted January 25, 2006 Leigh, this one is outstanding. What sets it apart is the tension created by the wave -- orgasmic... Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted January 26, 2006 Excellent. I like the layers in this image. The sky hold enough interesting detail to completment the foreground well. Link to comment
joemoree 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Another wonderful shot,I have come to expect these from you,you know. What I rally what like to know (from someone is interested in large format once funds allow) is how nice this print must be compared to the image I see on screen.I cant imagine that there is a comparison....your thoughts? stefano.antonelli 0 Posted January 26, 2006 This is one of my preferred in your portfolio, The dark/black grain and tones are the original and powerful ingredients of this pictures. Thank you for sharing! Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted January 28, 2006 I have to follow David again here, this is my second favourite of your last uploads. Quite different to the other, a layered composition at first sight. I dont know if that was intended, but I see a mirrored counterpart of the dominant clouds layers on the right in the more prominent beach lines on the lower left, with the rock as pivotal point, again. Agree with David on the wave, strong element. Outstanding work. Link to comment
leighperry 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Thanks everyone. Carsten, it was fortuitous on this day that there were lots of horizontal clouds. It was an easy choice to juxtapose the sky and sand layers because they both had the horizontal sub-elements. In a way, the 'wave' does the same for the middle layer, although with multi-second shots like this one (about 5 seconds) the 'wave' is more of an indistinct impression left by the actual waves that existed during the exposure. pnital 36 Posted February 7, 2006 Leigh, I like a lot that one. it looks like a layer work that starts with the dark brown, the darkest in the image and leads you to the next, and the next, each a bit brighter than the other till the great surprise of the very special sky. The rocks that have the shap of a small triangle are as well a pointer to the sky. unusal beauty, my favorite of the tri.. Pnina Link to comment
miles_hecker 0 Posted February 16, 2006 Hi Leigh, I like this shot the best of your recent uploads. Nice composition and tonalities and a kind of unique chocolate earthtone look. I have only seen the colors you've caught here in certain US Southwest sandstones shot in the shade. Very nice. More news on the Pentax 645.. Guest Guest Posted February 17, 2006 This is just superb. Studying it is a Zen-like experience. (Hm, what does that remark say about my character vs. David R's?) You are right, Leigh, the horizontal works better than #3 does. So many elements of this conjoin so well that it's just a treat to study it, but above all that imminent wave is amazing.
