I have just picked up a used Bronica AEIII prism finder which didn't
come with the manual. There is one switch on the underside of the
prism I can't figure out. This switch is a small sider switch marked
0-1-2, can someone let me know what this switch is for?
Thanks

I am looking at picking up a used 40mm or 50mm lens for my Bronica
ETRSi and I am looking at both the older MC and latest PE lens. My
question is will I see that much difference with the PE lens over the
older MC lens? 90% persent of my work is Black and White with the
other 10% being color slide film, mainly shooting landscapes.
Thanks, Robert

I have a box of Kodak Tmax100 readyloads and I am not sure if they
are the new Tmax or old Tmax. The package was purchased from B&H
approximately 6 months ago and is marked Kodak Tmax 100 TMX4052. I
also have just purchased a 100ft roll of 35mm Kodak Tmax 400 and
wondering the same question old or new Tmax. This 100ft rool is
marked Kodak Tmax 400 TMY402. Can someone provide me some clues or
info on how to see if these are the new or old Tmax films?
Thanks

I have just picked up a used Jobo CPE-2plus which I will be using to
process B&W film. I was wondering what the feeling was as to a
starting point to time adjustments for processing with a Jobo unit
vs. hand processing in small tank (agitaing every 30 seconds for 5
seconds). I saw on the Jobo site they recommend a 5 minute presoak
and no adjustment in developing times, do you folks agree with this?
I know I will have to do some tests to find best conditions for me,
but I am looking for a starting point.
I mainly use Agfa APX100 and APX400 processing with HC-110.
Thanks for any input

I have had my Shen-Hao HZX for 2.5 months now and also have no regets. Used for back packing trips and landscape photography (all Black and White) using 90mm and 135mm lens. using the Kodak Readyload system with no problems. I see this camera being with me for many years to come.

I have purchased a JOBO 2500 tank and reels to process 35mm and 4x5
B&W film. My question is about agitation during development. I feel
the 2500 tank requires to much developer to do the inversion method
of agitation and I am planning on using a Beseler motor base for
continuous rolling agitation. I was wouldering what other users of
the JOBO system feel about this method as to how it will work, or do
I need to save my pennies to purchase a JOBO processor?

I am about to start developing my black and white film. I am
currently using the following films in 4x5 and 35mm, agfa APX100 &
APX400, kodak Tmax100, and Ilford PanF. I would like to buy just one
developing solution to be used with all the mentioned film. Can any
recommend a good developer which will give good results with all the
mentioned films? Thanks Robert

I was out in upstate New York today and the temps were around 30 degrees F. made 6 exposures with Kodak Readyloads Tmax 100 and no problems. I carried the readyloads in the back pack with camera, left them in the pack until I was ready to make the exposure. Is it maybe that the readyloads are picking up dampness from the snow condition?

Take a hard look at the Shen-Hao 4x5. I was waiting for my first 4x5 to come, a Toyo 45CF and after waiting 2 months and still no camera I cancelled the order and got the Shen-Hao. Now I am glad the Toyo never came. I am only a beginner with Larger Format and just love the Shen-Hao with all the movements which the Toyo doesn't have. Typically all my photo work is outdoors doing landscapes and the Shen-Hao packs down nicely and is light enough for back packing. So far I have take 12 photos with this camera and very pleased with the results and don't see the need to upgrade to any other 4x5 in the near future.

I am looking for used lens boards for my Toyo G view camera and was
wondering what other type/brand boards fit the Toyo, I know that the
Omega view camera boards will fit.
Thanks

Does anyone know ir any US dealers have the Toyo 45CF in stock yet? I
would like to get a look at one of these since the price is right for
entry level feild camera.

I am thinking of going to Yosemite at somepoint it the next year or
so and I have a few questions. First what is the best time of year to
go to yosemite, is there a off peek time with less people? Second the
wife is not big into hiking, can we get to good photo locations by
driving and short hikes. And third is much like the second question,
I would be packing my 4x5 monorail and would like to get to good
photo locations without having to backpack 4x5 in. Also if you have
been there before and can recommend so good places to stay this would
be great.
Thanks Robert

I am new to large format having just started with a Toyo view camera. I live just south of Albany NY and western Mass is in my backyard. Not sure this workshop would be for rank beginners, but I would like to attend to learn form some seasoned users. Keep us posted.

I have been playing with my Toyo C, just praticing setups and
focusing and I find the standard ground glass is dark and hard to
focus. I am using a 135mm f5.6 Nikkor lens and is is fully open. I am
thinking of upgrading my ground glass to one of the brighter such as
a Beattie, or do I just put a fresnel in. Would like to know what you
folks feel would be the better way to go. I have seached past posts
and read that people don't like Beattie screens and also that the
fresnel can make it hard to focus.
Thanks Robert

Well I have gone and done it. Based on everyones input and looking
and many large format cameras I have just purchased a used Toyo C 4x5
camera with a Nikkor 135 f5.6 lens. So now it is time to start
burning up some film. I was wondering your thoughts on use of
Polaroid film for learning? With the Polaroid film I would be able to
see results quickly and not have to wait to see results after I
process.

I would like to thank everyone for the input. At this point in time I have ordered a book, "View Camera Technique" which I will be reading in the next day or so. And I feel I have narrowed my camera selection down to a used Toyo C, Toyo CX, or Calumet view camera. Also I feel my first lense will be either a 150mm or 135mm, this again I will be loking for good used lens. As far as used equipment goes I know there is allways E-Bay, but can you recommend other avenues for used equipment. I thisnk this type view camera will work for me since most of my landscape work currently is from locations I can drive to or short hikes under one mile. At this point I have a budget set at 1200 to 1400 dollars.
Thanks again for everyones input.

Currently I have 35mm and 645 medium format systems and thinking
about adding 4x5 large format. My main area of interest is landscape
photography and was wondering what type systems would best fit this
area? Do I go with field camera or rail type? What is the best focal
length lens with a 4x5 for landscape work. And finally what should I
be palnning on spending on a good starter 4x5 system?
Thanks for any info
