i like a lot of your stuff. i think i understand your style, unlike most people's stuff.

thanks for the advice on rangefinders. i've looked for a cheap one but not too hard. i'll check out the ones you mentioned. i do agree that long lenses ruin most candid shots. another idea i had that won't work quite yet but may be usable when technology gets better: there are cell phones with digital cameras on them, but the quality isn't good enough. once they get better, i can pretend that i'm surfing my e-mail just like everyone else while i'm actually taking pictures. it'll be a while (if ever) before cell phones can take acceptable pictures, and they'd never make me give up real film, but i'd be kinda cool.

yep. good expressions that are drawn out by their relative 'frozenness'. it does need more space....but i don't mind the white blob. it brings back memories..

this is one photo, right? it's very good. the wavy lines....sheet music. i'd increase contrast a bit.
-
hi. i see sad faces too. i think it's very good. i can't decide about the color because it's so bright. i like the b/w ones in the folder better because the texture is more varried and has depth in different places. this one is like a picture of a row of houses taken with a long lens. the b/w one(s) is like a picture of a broken-down barn taken with a wide angle lens.

i like this photo for it's texture and scale. and i think it is the best one in the folder, however, i really like to seem them all together. what was the event? or, maybe that's a dumb question. it's probably a tourist attraction.

yep. i found a used 1-n a few months ago. the trains/subway's in japan aren't so dangerous ^_^
thanks for the comment on getting more facial expression. it's true that i'm being too shy. i'd like to capture the expression, or lack of it, without people noticing, and i haven't been succesfull so far. i guess i need to use a longer lens. i've tried a bit but have been unsucesfull so far. one idea i've had...bring a friend along and pretend to shoot pictures of him while actually shooting other people. most people dont' know enough about cameras to figure out lenses and angles, etc. anyway, i appreciate all comments because, as you can tell, this is an ongoing series i'm working on.

hi. i wish this thing would let me look at your photo while i comment on it. overall i like the effect, but it's not quite 'there'. the spots of light and the v shaped lighted area that draws me into the picture are ovbiously the main points; i really like the contrast and the shapes, by the way. the two areas that draw me away from the cool shapes and texture of the walk are the very top of the picture and the left side of the picture. the top of the picture just misses the street light, and there is a glare that shines down. i'd like that too if it were a little more pronounced, but it just takes away my attention. and the corner of the building on the right side of the picture can't seem to decide if it should be there or not. it's not noticable enough to be a real element of the design. you said that this is different than the stuff you normally shoot. i don't know what your normal style is (i'll look into it), but i personally like this style of picture. keep it up.

i find this picture very interesting. in fact, i really like it. it's very mysterious. is the message that of being let down? or...vacancy? it really screams "no people" at me when i look at it.
-
hi. please critique this photo. i am interested in what you think
about when you see it. does the composition add to or distract from
a possible message? thanks.

i really like this photo. you should try taking pictures in a 'series' so they tell a story. i think it would match your style.
-
nice theme. well done. i smile when i look at it.
-
i like the shapes. what's around the corner?
-
i'm going to do a tree series eventually. this reminds me why i want to. trees are so different.
-
this is a really good one too. it's built with shapes. or lines. i can't tell which, and that's cool. it's definitely under water.
-
this is a fine shot, like many of the others. does it have a story?
-
i like your stuff. you seem to have a purpose in your photography.

i like what you have. you should post more.
