nick,
"moment" photo's like this do not always follow the rules. sometimes they are not properly exposed or in full focus or in this case including the full body. that is ok. the great this with art is thinking outside of the box and not always having to follow the rules.
sure i would have liked to have gotten the legs fully in, but for this image, it's the child's smile that makes it.

i think i'm stuck with this. being a cloudless, sunny day, and obviously exposing for the shadow to get the cow (subject) properly exposed, this is what we're left with...blown out highlights. the sand can be brought down some, but i'm afraid the sky is lost due to the nature of this kind of metering. maybe i can ps another sky in??? ;-)
