I purchased and subsequently returned one of those adapters sold on that auction site. The focus on a wide open 50 f1.5 Sonnar was off by about a foot close up and off in other ranges. I believe most of the adapters are made from donor Kievs. Maybe I had an isolated bad example, but be sure you can return it.

Don't forget the Bean at Grant Park.

I've used HP5 and tri-x in HC110. I've had to rate them both at 200 to get the detail I liked and prefer the HP5. HC110 is suppose to last forever and even longer if you decant it into smaller air tight containers. My bottle gets used up in 18 months and I've never had a failure. Another alternative for a long lasting developer is Rodinal if it ever comes back to the states or if you are adventurous, DIYodinal. I've been using this for fp4 and plus-x.
Good Luck

Don't forget to visit Central Camera on Wabash. Its about a block west of the museum. The last of the old time camera stores with stuff to the ceiling. They had some nice closeouts on film today and also Rodinal at 29 bucks (yeow).

Check out some DIY telescope websites. I've seen a couple that are pretty sturdy. I think S K Grimes website had a link for a large format diy tripod also.

It comes down to cutting bait or going fishing. You can test and get a perfect range on test sheets, but if you can't frame or expose a shot properly than it is all for naught. I've done the testing, but it is the shooting that is fun.

Bad news, I am in the process of patenting that lenscap holder string thingy .
Nice camera, any sample pics?

I seem to have a lot of holes on my last loading of 4x5 Arista.edu 400 also. I assumed it was dust, but now I am wondering.

I believe the EDU is Fotre (Hungary) and the EDU.Ultra is Foma (Czech Republic).

Those Blackhawk bags look interesting. It does give a different take on a shooters bag though. If can handle those type of barrels, they must be tough.

Not a hard question. Get an M2 with a 35 Summicron and a brick of HP5. And life is now good.

The M is a letdown on the rare occasion when I need a flash and can't set it to the inbetween x sync setting. I was not happy when I got my son's first communion pictures back. Quick reloading is also a pipe dream.

Very well done. It is a great looking camera indeed. I was wondering if powder coating is a viable option. I heard of people powder coating small items and then into the toaster oven ( the one from the garage sale, not your wife's) to bake it on.

I had the same problem. There is probably an old end piece stuck in the receiving slot. Go to the SK Grimes site and they have detailed instructions on how to take holder apart.

The camera is what it is, something to take take pictures, acquire images or whatever you may call it. I recently acquired a Nikon S that is brassing by the focussing wheel. And it still takes great pictures. Use it and enjoy it. If you are worried about scratching it, get a half case either an old one or a new one from Italy and start shooting. <P>Ad in paper - Leica M3 for sale Mint condition except that there are scratches where the serial number use to be. ;>)

I use it as my carry around lens on my Bessa R2. My informal test shows it slightly less contrasty than a summicron, but it still is a great lens. It uses a 40.5 filter and I use a metal vented lenshood I got from that site by the bay. I think the coatings take more of a beating than the Leica stuff from that time. I had a Nikkor 50f1.4 that was not as good the 50 f2.0 wide open. It had a swirly surreal look to it.
If you get a 50 f2.0 reasonably, go for it.

Good idea and nice job. Perhaps if it takes up too much room ,it can be also be called into service as storage for your large format needs.

Still the same old song and dance. The Boss live in Cleveland from 78. Definitive Springsteen for the ages.

I just had a roll of 220 C-41 negatives done by Just Perfect one hour lab in Evanston (don't laugh). They are downtown by the Northwestern campus. I think it was 25 bucks for processing and 5x5 pictures. It is a mom and pa shop and they also do e-6 in 120/220. They do a good job, although I think I am only person who requests 5x5 prints, so they have to reset the machine :>).

Send picture of camera w/serial numbers. Camera equipment must mint- or better.
I swear its true.

Thanks for the tidbit. I bought this to replace a beater nikkor 50 f1.4 which I thought was too soft. However if it is worth that much, maybe this needs to be relegated to special occasion status and not as my carry around, toss it in the case lens.
I did shoot it wide open the other night and thought the pictures were pretty sharp.
Thanks
Eric

Funny you should bring up the Nikon SP digital back. I put it on a wish list this morning on another forum.
With enough positive karma, perhaps it will come about.
