<p>Thank you all for the answer. I can now be happy with it. I've used a D300 for years, and use a D800 when I need full frame, but the D7000 is quiet, small, and fairly light. </p>

<p>I recently purchased a D7000 used, in great shape. I was very happy until I tried to find the AF activation selector in the custom settings menu. I frequently like to disconnect the shutter release from AF when doing careful shots on a tripod. I set the focus with the AF-L/AE-L button on the back, then fire the shutter without the camera readjusting focus. I can't find this option and am worried I won't be able to do this. If so, I might be posting it for sale!</p>
