a couple of things you could try to do especially in a butterfly pavillion. try to find an area to photograph them that has less contrast. also find a spot that can give you a pleasing background. usually i try to get my subject very close to the lens and have the background as far a way as possible so the background will blur one color. if you get the background a good distance from your subject while using flash during the day, the background will usually go black. good luck.

really very nice sharpness on this image. i like the colors and i especially like the black backdrop caused by using flash during the day. my only nit-pick would be the composition. it bugs me a bit that the butterfly doesnt have much space in front of him. its hard to be perfect with living creatures though. in my portfolio i have a similar image, butterfly with black background but i clipped the wing (OUCH).

i like the dreamy affect of the snow with the white blur. the scan
is not as good as i would have liked. in print, the magpie has a
more definitive "eyeshine".
please critique/and or rate/and or comment. thanks.

what like to hear your thoughts on this photograph.

real nice. i like how there are so many colors reflecting in this photo. if you look in my portfolio, i have a cityscape of the wtc tribute with beautiful light reflections also.
-
very nice angle which is critical for waterfowl. you got down nice and low. nice blur on the background. good work on a tough shot.
-
very, very interesting technique used to capture this image

This shot is awesome. Anyone who would want to photoshop clouds out of reflections, or fish out of the water or logs out of the water, is crazy. I would be quite proud to have this in my portfolio. Nice Job!!!

The shadow is too harsh on the top of the photograph. It becomes distracting to my eye.
-
I think cropping to a vertical image is also the way to go here. you get the distracting railing and splash out of the bottom and keep the reflection of the iceberg at the same time.

Brilliant!!!

please rate and/or critique my image of roger clemens. comments are
always appreciated. strangely enough, i am usually a stickler for
sharpness but there is a certain softness in his eyes that i think
helps the mood. what do you think? thanks. larry
