Roberta,
The ball is in your court. Why don't you write and illustrate one and submit it to Photo.net. We could all benefit from your knowledge and experience.

The Canon P is, in my opinion, the nicest of the late Canon Rangefinders. Clear finder with 35, 50 and 100 framelines and sturdy as a tank. I'm going to be selling a couple of mine if you are interested. Contact me offline. Chuck

It is one of the black and silver lenses and no, it is not a collapsable lens. Thanks for all of the replies.

The other day I ran across and picked up a Canon 50mm f2.8 (2.8 not
1.8) LTM but as of yet have not found any info on this lens. Even
the Canon Museum was of little help. IS anyone familiar with this
lens? Thanks, Chuck

Here is another thought! Assuming that you are using print film, just put in a 1.5v and don't worry about adjustments. I did this with a Canonet and a Konica Auto S2 and with the w i d e latitude of print film found no exposure problems. Cheap and easy. Chuck

Henry,
I have this strap and it is NOT adjustable. However, it might suit your needs anyway as I find it rather short to begin with. I'm 5'11" with average torso and it is just too short for me (not to mention overpriced at $25.00 from Stephen Gandy) Sigh!

Excellent advice all. However, should you decide to divest yourself of the 100mm 3.5, contact me privately as I could be interested! Chuck

1st camera was a Brownie Hawkeye. 1st real camera was a Mamiya/Sekor 500 DTL with spot and averaging metering. Still have it!

I'm looking for an S-42 hood for one of the late black Canon 50 1.8
LTM lenses. If anyone has one to sell, let me know. Thanks, Chuck
-
OK! I know it's not Leica, but.....does anyone have one of the
Canon S-42 hoods for the 50 1.8 in LTM that they'd like to sell?
Let me know. Thanks, Chuck

First, if you're going to be in the Laguna area, realize that Palos Verde is about an hour and a half away to the north. In Laguna, try to gain access to Three Arch Bay. It is a private residential community with an incredible beach. Try Woods Cove which is at the foot of (I believe) Thalia St. Between Laguna and Dana Pt., give Salt Creek Park a try. Crystal Cove is OK but heavily infested with "outsiders" that will only ruin any of your photos!!!!!

I have the opportunity to buy either a meterless Minolta Autocord or
a Rolleicord V. They are in approximately the same condition (good)
and the same price (cheap). I don't use medium format often and
this would be more to have and just use on occasion. Given that
choice, which would you select and why. Yes, I've gone through the
archives on each but would like to hear (or read) your choice
between the two. Whichever one I buy will most likely get a CLA
relatively quickly. Thanks for your opinions, Chuck

God, don't you just hate it when you see this subject heading? As a
long time lurker on this forum (you Leica guys really do have more
fun!) I thought it about time to ask for a little input. Recently I
picked up a mint Canon P at a really good price. Although it might
seem as heresy to some of you,I've always thought of the older Canon
rangefinders as kind of sexy. What's the point? Oh yeah. A LTM
lens or two, probably at 35 and 50. So throw the suggestions at me.
BTW, I have no qualms about sticking a non-Canon lens on the front.
Thanks for your time....Chuck

I agree with Fazal....this is not either/or. Each has varied and unique applications. It would also be helpful if you also described some of your photography objectives. Additionally, using the "search" feature will provide you with enough "digital vx. film" posts to gag you!

Well, Duh!!! Moral of the story.....Don't ask stupid questions late at night. Thanks all and would love to hear of any of your experiences or tips on shooting with a Perkeo. Chuck
-
I picked up a very clean Voigtlander Perkeo I today. Everything seems
to be working well and there are no light leaks in the bellows.
However, I don't seem to be able to find how to set the film speed.
Any help? Thanks, Chuck

Over the past year I've placed four orders with them and had nothing
but positive results. They've been courteous and the orders have
arrived on time. If they say it'll ship tomorrow, it will! Prices
have been as posted on the web site. One note: some people are leary
about buying grey market (non-USA warranty) items. Virtually
everything I have is grey market and what I've saved buying this way
has allowed me to buy more than I would have. I've never had a grey
market item need any warranty work.
In 2 words, what kind of a photog r u?
in Leica and Rangefinders
