    Crop ruthlessly.

     

    If an element is not adding to your images strength then remove it.

     

    The person in the background distracts from what would otherwise be a pleasant image. I would also crop a bit on the right to get rid of that greyish object that runs down the side.

     

    Also, focus is too soft on the face other than the ears (and a part under the chin), and the image is posted too large.

     

    Many photographers prefer to set focus on the eyes. Also, a smaller aperture would let you get more of the face in focus (a soft body and background would have been alright).

    Seems to be no detail in the hair. I am not sure if it is out of focus, or just a poor scan.

     

    Seems to be nice and bright on the non-lit side... did you use a reflector?

    My first semi-formal portraiture sitting. This is the one I liked the

    best, but there are others in the folder. Any guidance for future

    improvement would be greatly appreciated.
