Its been ages
But here I am again.
I wonder if you would care to join us in a new place. A new friend needs some people who know black and white. I need you to see his work. :-)) Come join us, bring your friends.

Thanks so much for the critique. You are a busy man!
Exposure time: 1/30 sec. F Stop: 2.7
exposure bias: 0.67 no flash
and a bit of burning, a bit of selective dodging, a bit of curves, a bit of luminosity added in photoshop. But very little of all. USM on downsize, of course.

All critiques appreciated

hi Marc
Thanks for popping by this oldie of mine. Yes, I think the votes are all in and counted. The top bit should be gone!
I have seen your new page... very nice, and your new addy. I know you were very busy with your move to Marseilles and all of that, so I thought that I would let you get settled in. Hope all is going great. I will email you at the new address. So nice to see you have some time to play on PN again. We all benefit from your knowledge and your willingness to share so generously.
As you can see above, we have all been busy.

This is hilarious. The expressions on their faces are sooo funny. Robert O., my friend, you need a wider audience. Come join us on F...k r. :))There are all kinds of groups and places to talk about your photos or get critiques if you know where to go. My F... account: funa fun but serious and interesting group: more funI will probably get deleted on P net for this... too bad.........
Have you ever heard of POPE JOAN? Apparently there was once a woman elected as Pope John ... she had concealed her identity as a woman for years. I wonder if this is an actual fact of history, or if it is a much published rumor. Anyway, this is the story your photo made me think about. And there is so much more to the composition of your photo to be appreciated. The DOF, alone, is perfect, not to mention the cast of characters and the excellent light, composition, story, humor, etc. etc. etc. Wonderful stuff!

Maybe Saul was that high and shooting the hole in the ozone layer. (I have to be a smart ass - its my fated role in life).
Texture and tones are sooo nice.

I never saw an under arm look so charming before.
I love the lines of the postive and negative space you have introduced into this work of art. The black arm dominates, despite red being the higher impact color and other objects being more uhhh well actually very nice lines on both sides of the photo. I becomes quite interesting if I crop off the shoulder. Then I see the lines of the arm and back and even begin to notice the shadows in the background. Or are those curtains and other blurred background ojects?
There are all kinds of intriguing crops to this. Crop out all the red... and you are left with the hand and her backside still in balance and with very interesting lines.

Exceptional photo. very nice.

Cute shot. I wonder if this deer saw you! I now understand the blur in the the foreground, thanks. And the big blur top left.
I have a shot on my blog where I was shooting through a small space between tree leaves all the way across the street to a deer on the lot across the street. the deer pretty blurry and the deer is too soft due to shooting in digital zoom area, I think.

Is this called bokeh?

yes, I noticed the angle of the window in its frame. That does mess with one's perception of how a window should appear. The clear glass twisty stem of the ... what is that? a candle? Whatever it is it surely adds to the interest of the photo. Wonder how it would look with that candle burning.
Was this at night, with a street light on outside?

Love the DOF and how the ends of the stamens each have a bright spot just below the darker ends. I always find so many interesting details in your compositions. Very nice!

Hi there Charo!
Scrumptious tones and light on this shot. I love it. The composition is very nice too. Just one tiny quibble... what's the lighter spot in the bottom right corner. I think I would burn it to make that triangle completely black. (Just an off the top of my head suggestion).
Wonder what lens you used with your Contax... again just curious, as I don't have such a camera or the ability to use one. But I a friend shoots with an old Contax and Zeis lenses. Fabulous work!

oh yes, that helps a lot.
Incredible that the reflections form circles. I have to try this. It is so very unusual and lovely.
Not sure why I think its morning light, but I will try this in evening light as you have done.

I am interested.
Next... You layer them and do something, I know not what to the background. It is a lot more blurred and the orbs are bigger. I am totally lost.
-
I have no idea how you got those round light spots in the background. I will guess that its a reflection from a light reflector you may have been using. However you did the globes, it makes the background of this shot very interesting and adds a lot to the artistic composition.
It looks like the two lilies are talking in the early morning light. The shadows and light areas add even more depth to the composition and give the lily conversation more mystery, more life.
I would take out the bright white spots, especially the lower left one, maybe clone it. I would not crop it out as you need all the area you have on the left for the top lily.
Very original composition.

Simplistic at first glance, but it draws me in to study all the elements. You have put together a very interesting story. It has nice texture too. I wonder what it would be like with a bit more contrast to darken the blacks just a bit.

Love the motion blur and the capture of this very fast, exciting game. Those little horses are so very well trained. You have excellent color and light.
How did you get the background blur? Were you panning? I have to learn to do this. My recent sports shots all have this static messy background, unless I get a closer zoom of the action, but I still don't get this nice motion blur. That just adds so much tension to the photo.

I am glad you did not follow through, too.
But that scenario just makes me grit my teeth. Just 2 days ago, I filled up my card, but was not finished my day. I deleted some, and I know I deleted one that I was keeping for documentary shot... to tell me where I was at the time of shooting. When I got home and was cleaning up my camera, I found I had another SD card along. Oh boy! the old brain cells just aren't what they used to be!!

Love the shot. You have a very good ability to capture the magic moments. I really like the one you loaded to the no words forum, how to carry a camera.
-
Very nice composition. Love the background and the shadows on the plant. It has faded, to the very last one. The very last seed is in sharper focus. Good use of the active space on the left and the busy space on the right. very very nice.

If you can dance, you may use it! Notice how he is using his two left feet?
But wait for my shots of the Lipizzan stallions before you decide! Going to see them Saturday... wish me luck.

Very nice floral art. I can find nothing I would change. I think about more light or brighter and nope, its good this way. I think about cropping some of the bottom and again, no, I need that extra space on the bottom too. If this were used for a greeting card that space bottom left would be perfect for any text, too.

This is a nice use of forms and light/dark in a landscape. I lose the curvy road and the transition from light to dark. I really wish the two foreground trees were not there, but I guess you could not have captured the S curve from any other spot, or from closer. I wonder what this would look like in the Fall with the light from behind you, and lighting up the Fall colors in the background. If you go back and shoot it, will you let me know?
