I didn't like this photo at first because of the heads in the way.
Then I realized they were just as awe struck as I was at this
scene in Meramec Caverns. The man in the forground might as
well have been me. I left my hat off that day though because the
need for a hat in a cave is questionable. Maybe a hard hat :-)

This was hand held with a Canon 1D and a 28-135IS lens. The
lighting was from the cave installed lights. The 1D made these
shots a lot easier considering it is a really tough exposure
problem. I saw the little Gnome on the left several months later. I
hope to return someday with a faster lens (I have a Canon 16-35
now) and tripod/monopod if they are allowed.

I like the way these fall colors work. Am I looking at this OK?
The crooked trees are fun too.

I am trying to capture the colors of the Grackles that come to my
bird feeders. The yellow eyes give them a built attitude thing.

Paul that is actually the procedure. I looked for a day that has good cloud activity, things that are really going up with good interesting shapes and then park where the plane will have just enough altitude to look good. Then hope that it all comes together. I don't have it horizontal as the cloud seemed to be a vertical shape and I held the camera that way. I don't use a tripod since the exact moment is not all that predictable. The Canon 1D 8frames a second also helps.

I think I have got this balanced right but don't know if the lower
part of the interesting cloud brings the eye down too much. I am
open to suggestions as I have looked at it too much to be
objective:-)

Interesting lighting from some major fireworks. They were
launched from a pier in the center of a small lake.

The eye spots on this butterfly are complete with highlights.
Unreal. It is a brillant blue on the upper surface of the wings.

I saw the rainbow returning from a visit to the doctor. My wife
was driving as I couldn't at the time. The graveyard next to the
main road was the first place we could find to park. I am not too
sure if there is a message there for me or not :)

I put up a stick next to my bird feeder. With enough patience and
time this young lady finally posed for me.

This is the same bird as in another photo of mine but the sun is
making the throat red instead of the golden color of the other
photo.
-
I have found the red throat turns to gold with the right sun angle.

I enjoyed the symmetry of the orchids. It was the first outing with my Canon
24-70. A nice lens.
