So my PC has a lame USB1.1 port and a fast FireWire port and I recently got a
D80. Turns out that it seems impossible to find an SD card reader that supports
FireWire. What's going on? Yes, I could get a USB2.0 PCI card, but my PC is soon
(finally) going to get booted in favor of a Mac, so I am not keen on that. Yes,
I can use the USB1.1 port, but its slooowww. Yes, I can apparently get a
SD-to-FireWire adapter and then use my CF card reader, which does connect to
FireWire, but it's out of stock at BH, I don't even know whether it works, and I
can't believe nobody makes a native FireWire SD/SDHC card reader. What gives??
Cheers

I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised when I used iso1600 during a pretty dark concert. The blacks are black, I think I would have seen a lot of noise with film. See, for example, this one

Tauseef, I have just shot my very first roll of Fuji 64T, also in an indoor/stage setting. I was unhappy with other films and the color cast I always got.

If you take a look at this picture, you'll see that I was struggling quite a bit with the slow speed of that film and the fact that I had to go wide open to f1.4 to stay at 1/4 sec there (with a tripod, but I had trouble focussing properly).

I happen to like the colors though - they are strong (unaltered in PS), and quite representative of the stage light that was there. But next time I better try a Kodak 160T. If I am not mistaken, there is no faster Fuji Tungsten film.

Hope this helps a little. I'd also appreciate any other advice the oldies here can give.

Thanks
SD card reader that supports FireWire?

NK - thanks for that pointer, but those two new Lexar card readers don't actually fit the bill either, because their FireWire card reader doesn't support SD/SDHC, and the dual (CF/SD) one that does is only for USB2.0
I wonder why manufacturers don't support FireWire for SD/SDHC. I'd spend more than $10 for it, because I don't have a Mac just yet and in any event I would have thought that it's a pretty common interface to want to support...
