  1. I think there is too much black, empty space in this picture. I think you would have three options here: A. If the framing of the picture was different, it could work (perhaps if you were closer to this cow thing). B. You could crop what you have. and C. there are obviously some shadow details here, and things in the black area. I am unaware if it is possible to extract these details to help balance the picture. An ND grad filter would have helped, or two pictures - one exposed for the sky, and one for the ground, joined together with some digital magic would have worked too.

I like this one. I think it is one of your better pictures.

Also, by the way, how do you make the fuzzy borders that you have on several of your pictures?

This picture was taken while driving. The exposure was either 2, 4, or 8 seconds, and the camera was handheld while resting on the open window, but tilting up. So - the squiggles are either passing cars driving in the opposite direction, or buildings I passed while driving. The light trails are squiggly because it was handheld, but also because of unevenness in the road.
  2. Cory - When shooting timed shots like this, what kind of aperture do you use? And how do you determine the length of time you want to use, or does that make a difference? And lastly, in what way did using bulb setting give you lighting of the sky that you didn't like? Thanks.
  3. From what you wrote for the technical details for this picture, it sounds trying out some faster lenses might be a good idea. 50mm primes are very sharp, and probably a good 2 to 3 stops faster than the 28-80 zoom. A 1.8 or 1.4 lens could bring your shutter speeds up to at least 1/60th, if not faster, with the same conditions indoors. Anyway, just food for thought.

the juxtaposition of the dirty faucet with the clean, clear water droplet works well. I had been contemplating a similar shot with using a nice, new, shiny faucet.

A wonderful shot. It is hypnotic. Good job.

I converted this image to greyscale to test Bill's idea out. (attached). I like the monochrome green better though.

If I am not mistaken, this is the effect you get when using the zoom on a zoom lens during a long exposure time. If this is the case, this picture was not taken with a point-and-shoot, as the picture information might indicate.
