  1. Nice compositions, exquisite detail and tones. Those CV lenses easily pull their weight.
  2. Thank you Christopher. The Summitar, despite its age definitely has its unique character! And yes, to see the temple in contrast to its surroundings forces a balance between old and new; to me was akin to seeing the Alamo for the first time in downtown San Antonio.
  3. Welcome everyone to Week 32 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a scene from my archives on October 2012 of the front of Longshan Temple, Taipei. Leica M6, 50mm f/2 Summitar, Kodak ColorPlus 200
  4. Although not answering your question directly, here’s some more info from the Leica Wiki site: SYOOM - Leica Wiki (English) The forum discussion links may reveal something more specific.
  5. Your reference is a good one. There are several regular participants of that forum whose knowledge is encyclopedic and will go to great lengths to provide an answer.
  6. Welcome everyone to Week 31 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a scene from 2012 during a night stroll of downtown Taipei. Leica M6, 50mm f/2 Summitar (with the LTM Adapter), Kodak ColorPlus 200
  7. A common complaint was the speed, but for my purposes that's no factor. I've always wanted one of these but the prices were a bit out of range. I finally found one that's not pretty, but functional at a great price; it's all I need, especially if I'm going to be on the trail with it. I've seen pictures of the DOF scale on version 2... it looks like an electronics wiring diagram!
  8. Just what I needed to see Bill, excellent. I just purchased a 28-35-50 MATE (first version) with hiking and landscapes in mind, it's nice to see how well it performs in the wild. I have an Alaska trip planned for next month and except when I need to use my 21/2.8 Elmarit, I plan to keep it attached as much as possible. The frequent lens changes slowed me down and dust getting on the sensor was a constant battle!
  9. Welcome everyone to Week 30 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a honeybee about to land on the roses. Leica M6, 50/2 Summitar (with the LTM Adapter), 100TMX
  10. Red Canyon, Dixie National Forest, Utah
  11. Thanks Christopher. This was shot wide-open; my Summitar copy is a rare coated example from the last batch made after Summicron production had begun.
  12. Welcome everyone to Week 29 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a scene of a street food vendor in Taipei. M6, 50mm f/2 Summitar (with the LTM Adapter), 100TMax
  13. Welcome everyone to Week 28 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a scene from a few years back of Bristol Street, Costa Mesa, California. Leica M8, 35mm f/2.5 Voigtländer Color-Skopar PII
  14. Welcome everyone to Week 27 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a scene of a Ponderosa Pine along the Queen's Garden Trail, Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. Leica M240, 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M (Version 3)
  15. Welcome everyone to Week 26 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a scene of totem pole carving at the Mount Roberts Nature Center, Juneau, Alaska. Leica M8, 15mm f/4.5 Voigtländer Super-Wide Heliar (Version 1 + Adapter)
  16. Welcome everyone to Week 25 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a scene on a shuttle boat in Aruba at sunset. Leica M8, 35mm f/3.5 Summaron LTM with Adapter.
  17. Hi Barry, I just now finally found the literature they gave us for the train trip; I'm in the process of unpacking after a move and it was in a box. It's definitely labeled the "White Pass & Yukon Route." (I left out the "&" in my original post.) Unfortunately there was no mention of the term "Dead Horse Pass," although it was noted that prior to the railway construction, over 3000 horses died because of the "tortures of the trail and the inexperience of the stampeders."
  18. Welcome everyone to Week 24 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a shot during a performance of the Blue Man Group, Las Vegas. Leica M240, 21mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M (Pre-ASPH)
  19. Schoodic Point, Acadia National Park, Maine
  20. Welcome everyone to Week 23 of 2022, the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread! Here’s a scene looking back on the White Pass Yukon Route train, northern British Columbia. Leica M8, 35mm f/3.5 Leitz Summaron LTM + Adapter
  21. Thank you Michael! My last visit was ten years ago and my appreciation for this park increased many times over this time around; I was able to see some lesser visited areas, particularly the Schoodic Peninsula. As for this image, I was happy with the composition, but I wish the sun angle had been lower. Unfortunately, sunrise there this time of year starts at 4:30 AM!
