Hi Folks, I'm looking to buy the most appropriate macro lens to shoot circuit boards sized 25mm x 25mm in fine detail. Based on what I've read, seems the EF-S 60 mm macro (and perhaps an extension tube) would do the job accounting for distance-to-subject, 1:1, etc. So in terms of just the ability to shoot the subject in great detail, am wondering if the 60mm lens would be adequate for such a tiny subject or if I need to get the MP-E65. I use a 20D. Thanks, Madhu

Does anyone know of an adapter/converter that allows using Canon EF lenses on
the K10D? I've searched a bit but only find adapters for Pentax lenses on Canon
cameras; not the other way around. Thanks.

Unless Steve mistook the SD-20 for the 20D.....as I did.....jeeez.

What Steve suggested will do what you want. Try it.

Depends...now that I'm older, AF is a blessing. So how good is your sight?

Alternatively, check if your dorm has a safe deposit facility. If not, approach the student council/governing body to set one up in each dorm. With nominal usage fees, it can finance any interns guarding it and become a selling point for the college. Plus, the college insurance plan may cover any losses from theft/fire, etc.

Here it is.

Contact Hoodman if you are in the US (hoodmanusa.com); I hear they will soon be selling the Canon grips. They already sell the D70 grip.

Have been using mine for nearly 2 years. Had it working variously with Windows XP, Mac OS 9 and OS X; no installation or operational problems with any of them.

You can also use a piece of white cloth held with a rubberband around the on-camera or external flash. Works surprisingly well.

"Why does it have a AF/MF option when it does not have a manual focus ring?"
It has - the MF ring is the one which has the "Made in Japan" and other lettering on it. Its a nifty lens, enjoy.

Darn it!! Let's try that link again. Hope it works this time. If not, here's the url:

Is something like this what you are looking for?

"I'm inclined to say "kiss my butt", but that would be rude."
Yes, that sure would be. But so is what you've said.
"BTW, how much time do you spend in front of the computer "resolving shadow detail in digital images" ? I'd rather be taking photos."
And having read what you had to say, and having seen your photos, I'd rather you first learn how to.
Jeeez!

The menus drop down?!? Not on my G4 Mac (OS 9.2 + Explorer
5). Also, when I click on a link, I have to refresh the page several
times before the contents appear on the screen. Else the page
only shows Google ads! Oh well, c'est la vie.

Theres' something to be said about supporting local
businesses.....especially if you plan to start your own.
Word-of-mouth reference and free advert-space from the store
could make a big difference to your business. So whats' a
hundred or two more in return? BTW, I asked my local store to
match the B&H price + S&H, and they did. So see if another local
store in your area will do that.
Good luck.

"What are you going to do when some dust gets on your CMOS, hire Johnny Cochran, Esq."
How are they comparable? The dust is a normal and universal outcome of using the camera, the tilt is a manufacturing defect. Besides, I can clean off the dust, but can't fix the tilt. As for people complaining most about the 20D, just give it some time and the complaints will be about the next bestbuy.
Bottom line, its your money, and only you get to decide whether 1.5K is too much, or negligible, to ignore the tilt.
But I'm surprised that Canon won't fix or exchange these tilted 20Ds in Europe; especially given their higher prices.
-
"It seems that only cameras bought in Europe have this problem.
Am I right?"
Tanel, I'm in the US and still had the same issue with my first
20D.
As for "its' just 1.5K, live with it", I guess it depends on who we
are. If I made my living with the 20D, perhaps i'd ignore it too.
But as a hobbyist, I don't see any point in making Canon richer
for providing a defective product that is more a toy than a tool
than me.
-
Yeah, I had the same problem. The LCD screen seemed to be
stuck closer to the pastic cover/body on the right side than the
left. The local store I bought it from ordered another 20D and
exchanged it for me.
And for what its worth, might as well state that it had another
flaw. It showed "corrupt data" everytime I pressed the review
button as it was buffering the shots. To see these "corrupt" files,
I had to turn the camera off and on. The newer model simply
says "busy" when "review" is pressed during buffering instead of
"corrupt data" - and no need to restart.
