It gets dark at the top of the image because the sea is deeper near the horizon and it gets dark blue. I chose to fill the image with the sea because of the multiple tones of blue, starting with a light agua near the shore.

You are quite right, the colours are exaggerated and intense on purpose. That is why I used both the polarizer and the Neutral density filter. Thank you for your comment.

I take my time to compose images from the viewfinder. The scene is casual. The tourists were taking a Merengue lesson on the beach, so I grabbed my tripod and camera and took the shot. The boat in the background was there and I just had to walk on the beach until I had the desired view...
